ABSTRACT COLLAGE/Painting

Dimensions: 24'x34' (61X 86.5 cm)

This collage is totally made of (a Dutch) news paper on soft board!
I accented the frame with the handles of paper bags.
It is a pity that on a computer screen, you do not get a sense of the texture of the paint, (news) paper, the shimmer of the Rhine stones and the other material.

I experimented how the paint, the recycled material and the tools interacted; its texture, color and shape are very pleasing to my eye.
I love the copper earth tones I used, such as raw sienna, which gives FAREWELL the warm color effect. I also used white gesso.
In the golden paint drops (left) I glued sienna colored Swarovski's Rhine stones. It's giving that extra sparkle which this piece needed.

Framing: I glued the soft board on triplex, which I first covered with news paper. Then I used modeling paste over the paper, sanded it, which gives it the marble like look. I finished it with a pearl paint, which makes the color soft and warm.

Title: On the right top one can still read the Dutch word "VERHUIZEN", which means "MOVING", like I did so many times in my life. That's why I called it FAREWELL.

Even if you don't understand abstract art, one can appreciate the design, shapes and earth toned colors of this painting.
I hope you enjoy it as much as my husband and I do.

I just "LOVE" this.....I'm so into textured and tactile" material being used in Fine Art..... I use "modeling paste" alot as "fresco" looking backgrounds in alot of my Abstracts and Abstract Expressionism pieces that I'm into now. Thank you for this piece....OUTSTANDING ! ! !
