Polyps

This is a soft coral colony. Each of the little hand-like polyp is a living animal and together they make up the colony. They are non-reef building as their stalks are filled with water and not calciforous. Together they can pump the stalks full of water to extend themselves into plankton rich currents. Amazing creatures. I've seen colonies over six feet tall. Micronesia. Enjoy!
