Very Hazy Day

We were looking forward to this hike to Skyscraper Mt. last week. After our Grand Park trip a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to get more pictures of this angle of Mt. Rainier, specifically Winthrop Glacier. The weather was hot, with no clouds in the sky. The twist was that the wind changed and smoke from a very large forest fire, NE of here, cast a haze on the mountain and all of the surrounding horizon. Not the best conditions for great photos. I post this 1st shot to point out the mountain in front of THE MOUNTAIN. This is the 3rd Burroughs Mt., our goal for the season. You reach this peak from the left after you have hiked Burroughs Mts. 1 & 2. The view you get of the Winthrop Glacier is spectacular!!! We have made it only once (out of 3 attempts) in the past 3 years and only saw the glacier for 10 minutes before clouds moved in and covered everything, including the mountain. So...if we are in shape enough, I hope we can make this goal...both of us are working thru some injuries.
