While technically not the best image, a very interesting and unusual capture nevertheless. After literally forty years of nature photography (mostly underwater however), I have never witnessed a bear swimming in a lake -- rivers and rapids, but never in a lake. This fine fellow (black bear) was on a small island about 200 meters from shore when I spotted him sniffing the water. Shortly thereafter and much to my amazement, he just waded in and proceeded to bear-paddle right across. Nothing to it!
