Photomanipulation digital painting of tug boats waiting under the drawbridge in Hoquiam, Washington; USA. The word "hoquiam" (ho-kwim, or ho-kwee-um) translates from Native American as "hungry for wood". In days past logs travelling down the narrow river would writh and bash against each other, and the out going fresh river water fight against the inward salty flow of high tide in this harbor town river; in effect chewing the wood.

it ... seems like a real cool place

Artist Reply: One of the things that is so wonderful about this place along the American coast is the sky. In this image it seems rather bleak and white. But just behind me, when I took the photo, the shy was blinding bright blue! It is as if one were walking litereally in two worlds at once! A world with the most lively colors known.

Beautiful work, Tree. Continue to play in this media.

Artist Reply: Thank you! I hope to get my paws on an image program with better options but I doubt I'll change how I work the images much. I really enjoy the resulting works -- totally selfish :) . Most of these photographs were taken a few years ago, before I had a computer, so they've been patiently waiting til now. :) I'm very excited to be using them at last.
