Always a very difficult subect, children have so few individual characteristics, overall a very nice painting, though I feelthat the eyes are not quite properly aligned, also the child's finger looks wrong (another difficult thing to get just right; even some of the old masters found hands and feet too hard, so would employ another painter to do them, one who specialised in painting only those parts of the body: the skin colouring is good so too the brightness of the eyes
