Joan of Arc

I wanted to make this painting already for so long.... I have no idea why, but I have a heart connection to this character.... If you would like to know a short biography, here it is: "Her Story ~ Born at Domremy in Champagne, probably on January 6, 1412 one of five children to Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle Romee. At the age of thirteen and a half, in the summer of 1425, Joan became conscious of her "voices" or her "counsel." It was at first simply a voice, as if someone had spoken quite close to her, but it seems also clear that a blaze of light accompanied it, and that later on she clearly discerned in some way the appearance of those who spoke to her, recognizing them individually as St. Michael (who was accompanied by other angels), St. Margaret, St. Catherine, and others. In the early 15th century, England, in alliance with Burgundy, controlled most of what is modern France. In May 1428 Joan's voices told her to find the true king of France and help him reclaim his throne. Carrying a banner that read "Jesus, Mary", she led troops from one battle to another. Her victories from 23 February 1429 to 23 May 1430 brought Charles VII to the throne. Captured by the Burgundians and sold to the English for 10 thousand francs, she was tried by an ecclesiastical court, and executed as a heretic. In 1456 her case was re-tried, and Joan was acquitted (23 years too late). For a more full and interesting story go here. Born ~ January 6, 1412 Domremy, Lorraine, France Died ~ burned at the stake at Rouen, May 30, 1431 Patronage ~ France, martyrs, opposition of Church authorities, people ridiculed for their piety, prisoners, rape victims, soldiers, WACs (Women's Army Corps), WAVES (Women Appointed for Voluntary Emergency Service) Memorial ~ May 30th"

She definently looks like a nobel of the knights. I love her face, she shows that she is strong and yet beautiful at the same time. Great work!
