Being

In this one, i wanted to show the three stages of human development. I show a triad of faces that represent the stages of maturity, from an infant to old age. The colors within this work reveal a part of human nature that coincides with each stage. The infant, grey in appearance, is awaiting life to fill him or her with color and experiences; the middle age man or woman, red in appearance, is rich with life and filled with lots of opportunity that awaits him or her; and of course, the elderly woman, filled with green representing her soft, but understanding envy of the other two as she nears the end of her existence in this world. I also placed the infants head in the elderly womans head and the elderly womans head in the infants head. This portrays life as a continual recycling of human entities and the time constraint or bridge between what is possible and what has already been. Within this structure we see an infinite wall made up of the colors of the very people themselves, forcing them to come to grips with their possible maturity or immaturity, trapping them in this cycle with no where to escape too. Simultaneously very human and very unhuman. Frida Kahlo also used the superposed images on the forehead with great effectiveness. Unusual and compelling color combinations.
