'Evening Light' Watercolour Painting

‘Post Apocalypse’ was how one viewer on Facebook described this painting which coincidentally was exactly what I thought when I’d completed this watercolour and examined it in its mount. I mentioned previously how much I like bleak landscapes and I think this one fits into that category though I have tried to inject a bit of colour with the use of the palette reds (alizarin crimson and light red). I don’t decide until the last second as I’m about to start painting what colours I’m going to use. Often I’ll use a similar palette to those of the photo but other times I’ll just make it up as I go along and throw everything at it. The main thing always is to try and capture some sense of light.

LOOKS VERY BLEAK BUT IS BEAUTIFULLY DONE. THE ADDED COLOR IS JUST RIGHT.
