Splendid Fairy Wren Australian bird Art Gallery Susan Willemse

We had photographed and observed the Superb Fairy Wren in Canberra before meeting this chap in NSW. Wow the colours were absolutely amazing, a Twitchers delight!- purples, blues, light sky blues and turquoise are all seen in this Splendid Fairy Wren and it was this that I wanted to capture in this artwork. I used every tube of "blue" paint- florescent, opaque and mixed that I had in my Gallery for this one and I wouldn't have attempted this artwork without the extensive collection of acrylics in many different shades and brands that I have. The royal blue contrasts well with silver highlights in this "little blue bird" painting. The abstract back ground that takes just as long to paint with airbrush overlays as the bird itself highlights the branch it was sitting on but remains true to photo realism as well, for our focus in bird photography is on the feathers. I hope you enjoy watching the attached video too which is just a glimpse into producing this art. Another environmentally friendly tactic I use in my art business as a professional full time artist is my mobile phone- this reduces the amount of paper I use as there is no need to print all reference images out in colour, I use more than one in painting my birds. This artwork is priced to include a Victorian Ash hand crafted floating frame with hard backing that will require 1 week to manufacture. Prices of artwork and framing are standardised and should you wish to purchase without a frame- please contact me to make enquires. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLjtCMhKhAw
