Rainbow Lorikeets in the fig tree Art Australian Birds Susan Willemse

This artwork was inspired after being told that Rainbow Lorikeets are not found in Canberra, they are but for such colourful birds they do blend in very well. They happen to like the figs outside my art studio which is at the end of the dining room table. These photographs were taken in summer though when it is much greener, in winter the cockatoos come to see whats being painted. With airbrushing it is very important that artists wear masks and have proper ventilation to avoid lung pneumoconiosis, I am very lucky to have two windows and a door making this room open on three sides, however this does make it chilly to airbrush in winter. I am always delighted to see the shy migratory birds as well in this tree.
