Aveling & Porter traction engine, 1871

The oldest surviving traction engine to show all the features that became standard practice for the following 60 years. It was designed by Thomas Aveling, who was pioneer in the application of steampower to plouging, road haulage and driving agri cultural machinery. The engine is shown in the Science Museum in London.
