The 2 hp

The ugly duck, the goat or the cradle ... anyhow with the innovation of this car Citroën wrote car-history again. In 1948 the idea was born to create a board on four wheels with a motor, steering wheel, a chair and covered by a tent. A rudimentary and cheap vehicle for the bad roads at the countryside and farmers. However a few years later some more comfort was forced, but the concept stayed extremely standard. The aquarel shows a model from the end of the fifties. With his 2 hp, an engine of 375 cc. and a maximum speed of hardly 90 km/hour, the "duck" was surely not a race-monster but with his extremely supple springs, and very simple device, a farmer easely could transport a pig or a few barrels of wine. Several of those cars made a succesful worldtour. Four millions of these cars where produced between 1948 and 1990 and the model hardly changed. Even today this small vehicle is a very popular collector item. Image size: 260 x 360 mm

I have a friend who just bought one in perfect state. So many souvenirs come back when you have a drive with such a funny car !!! We were younger !!!!!

Artist Reply: Il y a une trentaine d'années j'ai eu une occasion mais après six mois le moteur a rendu l'âme, je croix que ce vehicule avait eu une collision frontale. Mais c'était un plaisir de la conduire.
