This is the first morning I've had good sunlight for days, so I had delayed uploading untilnow. I like natural light for photographing my pieces. This is closer to my original sketch than the first version was. It is a 20 by 16 inch acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas and another example of Original Jones Art from Austin, Texas.

Okay, Charles!! I just knew you were very calculating in your work. Love this piece and the subtle humor in the title!!. Your friend Mark!

Artist Reply: Dr. Dolittle (and perhaps he DID little as well?) talked to the animals and I talk (or is that squawk?) thru my pieces. Sometimes I'm even understood. ;) Thanks for being an artistic friend, Mark. They're the best kind. :)

It looks like a wooden clamp on his beak.

Artist Reply: I was thinking something like a caliper, Stanley, while I was working on the initial drawing. Maybe I'll upload that drawing to illustrate. I hope you are doing great. :)

Fantastic indeed!!!!

Artist Reply: Much appreciated, Heloisa! I have another I'm almost done with, but the weather isn't cooperating for a preliminary peek. Hope you are doing creative things today. :)

metric birds... are you considering switiching to the Metrical System of Measurements? it's a lovely portrait, Charles!

Artist Reply: Well, it would be about time, Nikolay. :) The beak area reminded me of a micrometer caliper as I made the first sketch, hence my name choice. They are usually metric or both.
