Yorkie

When I was asked to paint a "Yorkie" via e-mail, I wasn't thrilled with the first photo the owner sent. I couldn't see the coloring or the dog's expression very well. So, I asked her to send more...and thank goodness she did. The photo used to paint GROVER was actually of him in the backseat of her car sitting by a drink cup from 'Sonic'! The way his head was cocked to one side and his tongue just barely sticking out was exactly what I was looking for! Working on GROVER came easily...when I have a great photo to work from everything falls into place. I feel as though I know this little fellow very, very well. I will hate to see him go. But, his owner will soon adorn her walls with a colorful image of her beloved Grover, and I will just have to get on with my life without him. Bye, Grover...it was truly a blessing to get to know you... *copyright 2012 Laura Grisham *ORIGINAL SOLD 20x20x1.5 gallery-wrapped canvas *commissioned dog portraits available by contacting the artist via e-mail

yes,a good photo makes all the difference, someone recently wanted me to do a kitten and instead of a photo, she sent a video, washed out, with two kittens eating with their heads away from the camera, always moving and it was blurry besides,I don't know what she expected me to do with that, this is awesome!

Artist Reply: That's so funny! At least I've never had THAT happen! However, some of the photo's have great poses but then I start painting and they say, "no, no that's not the dog's coloring at all..." but I paint what I see...just like artists DO. Oh well, we are are very, very blessed to be able to do what we do. And thank you for your sweet comments about my paintings! Many Blessings, Laura
