Fleurs (2)

Mendelssohn
- Lieder ohne Worte op. 30 nº 1

Floral abstract with lots of texture, mainly painted with knives.
Hoover over the painting with the QuickZoom to see all details.
An explosive and colorful painting,
exhibited at a financial manager's office.

I love adding alternate materials to create an interesting texture.
It's pretty time consuming, but a fun thing to do and very rewarding!

Texture is the quality of a surface (Rough, Slick, Smooth, Grainy)
It's "the feel" of the canvas. It can be based on the paint and its application or by adding additional materials.
For this painting I added music paper, newspaper and modeling paste, in which I printed all kind of shapes when wet, sanding, scraping, scratching, layering, gluing which makes it an interesting collage painting.

I like to see the "history" in/of a painting, such as the edges: they reveal a "history".
As you can see: mine are not smoothed out and painted with burnt umber to give it an idea like there's another painting underneath.
