I love to do commission works of loved ones, and this is a good example. Because the children looked to me like a Renaissance angels, I wanted to make the work a classic painting from that period. I used Leonardo da Vinci's technique's for creating flesh tones to give the faces depth and aliveness. I call the painting "First Kiss" because it reminded me of my first kiss in kindergarten. I will never forget the intensity of the experience of having received a kiss from someone other than a relative. To present that feeling of intensity I added clouds at sunset.
