Window to Heaven

This is the view from Mont Rochelle vineyard in Franschhoek, South Africa. Franschhoek is quaint small town about 45 minutes from Cape Town, settled by the French in the mid-1600's. It is the home to excellent vineyards and French restaurants. Most of the residents still speak French. The town is surrounded by mountains, and is very picturesque to say the least. I attempt to challenge myself with each painting and this time took on the challenge of painting stained glass with the light behind it. The window, opening up to the valley and the Franschhoek mountains in the distance creates an unsurpassed tranquil view in this acrylic painting. This piece framed in a similar colour as the window panes would make it appear to be a window to the outside. Ideal for a spot that could use such an illusion. The original painting is finished in a gallery wrap but can easily be removed and rolled in a heavy cardboard tube for safe international shipment.
