Don't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, (did I say "ever") try a new brand of varnish on a painting a week before your show. The silver lining... it's a week before the show with time to touch it up. The new works since my last post are coming along *awesomely*. I won't be posting any more pics until after the show. There has to be some element of surprise for those attending :-)

So I was up to the wee hours of the morning painting. Couldn't help it. Every artist out there knows that when you're on a roll you just go with it.

I've completed a Glamour Gal sketch that I still need to paint. My plan was to paint it yesterday but I was inspired to start another painting instead. So I just went with it. The picture off to the right is the one I decided to start yesterday and will put the final touches on today.

I'm not sure if I'll work on the sketched Glamour Gal that still needs to be painted or... start another more "painterly" Glamour Gal like the one I'm working on. Decisions, decisions... ;-)

Good Morning! I'm currently working on another Glamour Gal (untitled and no pic yet). Spent most of yesterday working on the sketch and will do the final touches today before I start painting.

She'll be the fourth painting I'm creating for the upcoming show in Orange County, California on Feb. 17th. So far... I'm rather pleased with the works I'll be presenting.

I'll be doing a walk thru in a couple of weeks to see the "show space" and to meet the other artists that will be participating in the show. I'm looking forward to it and I think it's a great idea to have a chance to get to know the other artists before the actual show. Kind of a "meet & greet". Well... I like the notion anyway :-) The coordinator of the event really seems to have it together.

As soon as this Glamour Gal is painted, I'll get a picture of her uploaded. But for now... back to the easel...

I completed my latest painting last night titled "EGYPTIAN REVIVAL IN CHANEL" for the upcoming show in Orange County, CA on Feb. 17th. I really like the way she turned out and she'll be another Glamour Gal I'll be proud to show.

The link for show info is below and I'll continue to include it right up until the show date:

It's a ticketed event... and there will be other talented artists to see as well!

For now... no time to rest as I have several more new works that I'd like to complete for the show. So I'll keep this brief and get back to the easel...

It's a new year and who knows... maybe a good time to try "blogging" again. I obviously didn't do such a great job my last attempt but as the saying goes, I'll try-try again.

I was contacted just recently to do a show. I like it when people are excited enough about my work that they reach out to me to book my art.

So.... I will be showing my work in Orange County, CA on February 17, 2013. The link to the show/info is below. Check it out and I hope to see & meet you there.

Buy your tickets in advance. This is going to be an amazing show with several artists. I love the arts and supporting other artists so I'm really looking forward to not just participating but to meeting the other artists as well.

The painting in this post is one of the Glamour Gal paintings I've completed for the show titled "FOOLISH NOTION IN CHANEL".

Hello All, I'm back from Vegas and in full artistic swing. I was able to get some great photos from both of my recent trips to San Francisco and Vegas. Now it's time to stay in my AZ studio and create. I'm painting and getting some new limited edition prints ready to add to the Glamour Gal collection that will be available for sale.

I have some new clients in just the past couple of weeks from France, Italy, Brazil and Dubai so the Glamour Gals continue to have a strong appeal in the International market. In the USA, a couple of new clients are a Federal Judge and another is an Attorney in NC. I really like the fact that the Glamour Gals continue to appeal to such a wide range of people.

Okay, back to Vegas for a minute. I always have fun in Vegas and artistically, I always return inspired. For the first time, I stayed at a place off the strip and never again! We stayed at the Red Rock Casino which is about 30 - 45 minutes from the strip and I felt like I was stuck there. It was an older, local crowd there and just not the type of vibe/experience that I have come to know and love when I go to Vegas. My favorite place to stay in Vegas is the Venetian and I like to play at the Mirage and Treasure Island. That's where you'll find me the next time I go. With that said, I still had a great time just being with my hubby. Well, back to painting. More later...

Today is President's day and I'm still hangin' in San Francisco. I haven't been painting (like I thought I would be) but that's because I've been soaking up the city! My hubby has had me all over town just taking it all in. You could probably spend years here not see everything... that's how many great places there are to see, do, enjoy and just plain experience.

We went to Top of The Mark last night which is a landmark skylounge at the top of the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel. We ordered a bottle of champagne along with the seafood fusion and just took it all in. Top Of The Mark history...

During WWII, servicemen would buy and leave a bottle in care of the bartender so the next soldier from their squadron could enjoy a free drink. The only requirement being whoever had the last sip would buy the next bottle. The soldiers gathered before shipping out for one last toast to the Golden Gate Bridge believing the bridge was good luck and would bring them home. As they sailed off under the Golden Gate Bridge, wives and sweethearts would come together in the northwest section of the lounge, where they would tearfully gaze out the windows to watch them go. This corner became known as "WEEPERS CORNER".

As my hubby and I sat in northwest corner of the lounge sipping libations and taking in the beautiful sights of the city, I couldn't help but think of the history of this amazing lounge. It was very cool and I can't wait to go back! Well, I best get ready to go out again. More later...

Opps.... we went to "ALFRED'S" last night, not Alexander's. Just wanted to get it right in the event someone decides to give the resturant a try ;-)

Hello All... I hope everybody enjoyed their Valentine's day. I've been up in San Francisco this week having a wonderful time. I had dinner at Alexander's with my hubby last night. The resturant opened in 1928 and what a great dining experience. The decor inside was class all the way... large red/burgandy booth's with tufted backs, and red/burgandy walls (appropo given the fact we were there on Valentine's day) white tablecloths, dim lighting and from what my husband told me... frequented by the mafia back in the day. The dinner was just superb and the company... it just doesn't get any better (love you B). I definitely recommend it. Back in the day, I dated a Beverly Hills attorney who represented some mafioso's in Vegas. We went to a place that was actually peppered with mafia and it had the same feel to it that Alexander's did only the resturant that was peppered with mafia was MUCH MORE DIMLY LIT.

San Francisco is full of fine dining that you'll find in just about every nook, cranny and alley way. Again... something so unique and cool about this city.

I absolutely LOVE coming to San Francisco. The sights, arts, food, architecture and the history embrace you. The days are sunny but the temp is usually cool/brisk, for me anyway but my husband loves it. The nights are usually cold and windy. You do soooooooooo much walking around this city, so wear comfy shoes or at least carry a pair of flats in your purse (bring a larger purse with you ladies) so you can switch from heels to flats as needed. They have great public transportation here (if you're so inclined). I perfer taking a taxi or walking. The trolley's are packed with tourists but still fun to take if you've never been and don't mind the wait. It's like waiting in line for a ride at Disneyland.

My husband works and lives in downtown San Francisco, so I commute back and forth. I spent about a month up here in July '07 and set up a "mini" studio so I can create "the gals" here as well. It's a completely different lifestyle here and I'm lucky to be able to switch it up when I'm so inclined. Sometimes it's hard to leave home base, but when I do it's liberating. It pulls me away from the normal day-to-day (if an artist really ever has a normal day) ;-)

The last time I was up here I thought the people weren't that friendly. As you walk around most people walk with purpose and you don't find anyone exchanging pleasantries. Maybe that's just indicative of a metropolis. You do however have the homeless that are eager to engage you for spare change. They don't hound you, which is nice, and I would love to give every one of them the spare change they so desire but then... eventually I'd be broke. I do however find myself donating to their cause on occasion, especially if someone is playing an insturment. Besides, I've found the ones playing an insturment are the exception to the rule as far as pandering for money is concerned. On this trip, I must say that I have met some really great people so far, through my husband. The emperor of Chinatown is so awesome and Ehtel, Jessica, Edie and Jake are my new peeps. Chris... you da' man! Dennis... you rock! So friendly people DO EXIST in San Francisco ;-)

What's on tap for today? I might read or possibly start a new Glamour Gal. It's Friday so I know we'll be definitely hitting the town tonight (again). More later...

The reception at D. Frank Designs was great! It was fun to be right smack dab in the middle of all the Superbowl activities in Scottsdale, AZ. I met some really great people who absolutely loved my work. An artist can never hear "I love your work" too many times ;-)

"The Gals" are prominately displayed and attracted many into the boutique/gallery. I don't do many shows/events (my choice) but when I do get in front of the public, it's always enjoyable for me. The owner has some other really great artists work on display as well. Just a real nice range. Visiting her boutique is a visual delight! If you're ever in town, you'll enjoy stopping by D. Frank Designs - 7107 E. Stetson Drive - Scottsdale, AZ - 480.874.1310. You'll be able to walk to other art gallery's and shops in the area as well, not to mention the cool places to grab a bite to eat. I recommend STAX for a fun, delicious meal. They have sliders... from beef to salmon (really any kind you want) and they were delish!

I'm working on a new Glamour Gal today that I started last night, so I should get back to it!
