Hello All... I hope everybody enjoyed their Valentine's day. I've been up in San Francisco this week having a wonderful time. I had dinner at Alexander's with my hubby last night. The resturant opened in 1928 and what a great dining experience. The decor inside was class all the way... large red/burgandy booth's with tufted backs, and red/burgandy walls (appropo given the fact we were there on Valentine's day) white tablecloths, dim lighting and from what my husband told me... frequented by the mafia back in the day. The dinner was just superb and the company... it just doesn't get any better (love you B). I definitely recommend it. Back in the day, I dated a Beverly Hills attorney who represented some mafioso's in Vegas. We went to a place that was actually peppered with mafia and it had the same feel to it that Alexander's did only the resturant that was peppered with mafia was MUCH MORE DIMLY LIT.
San Francisco is full of fine dining that you'll find in just about every nook, cranny and alley way. Again... something so unique and cool about this city.
I absolutely LOVE coming to San Francisco. The sights, arts, food, architecture and the history embrace you. The days are sunny but the temp is usually cool/brisk, for me anyway but my husband loves it. The nights are usually cold and windy. You do soooooooooo much walking around this city, so wear comfy shoes or at least carry a pair of flats in your purse (bring a larger purse with you ladies) so you can switch from heels to flats as needed. They have great public transportation here (if you're so inclined). I perfer taking a taxi or walking. The trolley's are packed with tourists but still fun to take if you've never been and don't mind the wait. It's like waiting in line for a ride at Disneyland.
My husband works and lives in downtown San Francisco, so I commute back and forth. I spent about a month up here in July '07 and set up a "mini" studio so I can create "the gals" here as well. It's a completely different lifestyle here and I'm lucky to be able to switch it up when I'm so inclined. Sometimes it's hard to leave home base, but when I do it's liberating. It pulls me away from the normal day-to-day (if an artist really ever has a normal day) ;-)
The last time I was up here I thought the people weren't that friendly. As you walk around most people walk with purpose and you don't find anyone exchanging pleasantries. Maybe that's just indicative of a metropolis. You do however have the homeless that are eager to engage you for spare change. They don't hound you, which is nice, and I would love to give every one of them the spare change they so desire but then... eventually I'd be broke. I do however find myself donating to their cause on occasion, especially if someone is playing an insturment. Besides, I've found the ones playing an insturment are the exception to the rule as far as pandering for money is concerned. On this trip, I must say that I have met some really great people so far, through my husband. The emperor of Chinatown is so awesome and Ehtel, Jessica, Edie and Jake are my new peeps. Chris... you da' man! Dennis... you rock! So friendly people DO EXIST in San Francisco ;-)
What's on tap for today? I might read or possibly start a new Glamour Gal. It's Friday so I know we'll be definitely hitting the town tonight (again). More later...
