SLS011. 13.5" x 8.75" watercolor/gouache ©1998 by M.L. Wilson. Roosevelt elk cow and calf pause for a moment, Mom sensing something of interest before Junior catches wind of it. The local herd visits us usually in the winter when their higher pastures in the coast range get cold. Sight of steam rising from our wooded gulley is evidence the herd is in residence. At a local plant nursery, a woman was overheard asking the clerk what plants would attract elk. Begonias and ivy work for us.
