Self Portrait

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Barry Wald travelled extensively in Europe while in his early to mid-twenties. Later he was to travel to Israel and China. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from City College in 2007 with a BA degree and majored in studio art. From 2006 to 2013 and from December, 2015 thru February, 2016, he took drawing and painting classes at the Art Student’s League in New York City. He attended Brooklyn College with a major in psychology and studio art as a minor. He graduated with a BA from Brooklyn College in 2013. At Brooklyn College, Barry took art classes in figure drawing, sculpture and two independent study classes where he did portraits using ink markers. Recently, he has been working with mixed media, combining black and white charcoal with acrylic ink, He also does charcoal and graphite drawings and paints with oil and acrylic. He has exhibited at NoHo Artwalk 2009, NoHo Artwalk 2010 as well as Small Works Exhibit 2010 & 2012 (CCNY Art Alumni) at 2/20 Gallery in New York City. During the summer of 2014, one of his drawings was exhibited at the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, a juried exhibition entitled Classical Realism. From July 28th until August 6th two of his ink marker drawings were on exhibition at the 2016 56th Annual Artists’ Alpine Holiday Fine Arts Show in Ouray, Colorado. His drawing Girl in a Hat was awarded the 3rd place prize in the graphics category. He has also exhibited at various class exhibitions at City College, Brooklyn College, and the Art Students’ League. He is a member of the Art Students’ League.
