Study of an Apple

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away"

I'm taking a soft pastel class again.
I forgot what a forgiving medium it is!

Pastel crayons can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci.
Pastel crayons can be soft, hard, or oil-based.
The first two of which are chalky, and the last of which is “buttery” in texture.
The techniques for using the two types of pastel crayons differ fundamentally and express very different things.
I use SOFT PASTEL.
Pastel crayons are used for painting in pastel.

Soft pastel is composed of high quality pure pigment grounded with a natural transparent binder.
The various binders used include china clay (kaolin), resins and other substances.
The hardness or softness of pastel crayons depends on the binder used, that means there are pastel crayons in varying degrees of hardness.
