James, Oh James!!

Standard

This was the year. It’s been over 10 but this was the year. I finally did it and auditioned for a local theater production.

And I got a role. Woo Hoo!!

I am currently playing the role of Ms. Spider in the Mill City Production of James and the Giant Peach.

This has been such a wonderful experience. I have met an amazing group of creative people which feels great. It’s so nice to be amongst like-minded people.

Going In Circles

Standard

This is the newest quilt in my collection. I found the pattern in a magazine and it called fort those cornflower blues and pale yellows of the country style. Well, that is clearly not what I ended up with. I shopped for fabric with a friend in whose vocabulary the word subtle does not exist.

I was slightly apprehensive at the fabrics at first. We even had another brightly striped selection but I opted not to use it in this quilt. She was disappointed, but….

Creating the circles and embellishing the edges with different stitches was fun. I experimented with stitched I had never used on my machine.

This is the border fabric which, as you can see, is very bright, bold and wavy. Mitered corners were not attempted.

The other fabrics are bold in color but subtler in texture, so to speak.

I machine pieced and hand quilted this work. It is 60″ x 72″ with a mottled green backing. I quilted it using hand-drawn circles and black thread so the circle designs pop on the back. The batting is 100% natural cotton.

I love the way it turned out. It’s very warm and snuggly feeling. And the colors are very cheery. If you are interested in purchasing this quilt, you can head over here.
