Every month we hold several art contests on ArtWanted.com. Here you will find a list of the most recent contests on our site and links for more details. Simply click on the title of any contest below to submit your entry, vote for current contests or view past winners. There are no entry fees for any of our contests and we give away some great prizes for our winners. Enjoy!

DESCRIPTION: Using any style or medium, submit art that says the color 'Orange' to you. The artwork/photo must have orange as the most dominant color in the piece. Grab your orange markers, paint and colored pencils and let's see what you can do. Have fun.

RULES: The submission must be artwork that you have done yourself. Entry must fit the theme of the contest. No photos for this contest, there is another contest for photography. Only one entry per person, so make them count!

DESCRIPTION: It's that time of the year where we start looking for scary and spooky things for Halloween. This contest is for our members to submit artwork that features bones. Skeletons, skulls and anything creepy that shows bones is welcome for this contest. Let's see what you can do!

RULES: The submission must be artwork that you have done yourself. No photographs or 3D renderings for this contest please. Entry must fit the theme of the contest. Please do not mention your name or have links in your contest description. Only one entry per person, so make them count!

MYSTERY PHOTO #7 - Contest Ends: Oct 5th, 2008

Welcome to the NEW ArtWanted.com Mystery Photo Contest! Here is how it works...

OVERVIEW:

The 'Mystery Photo' is a photograph of an object that has been modified in some way, and you have to guess what the object in the photo is. We could zoom into a specific section of the photos, colorize the photo, invert the photo, stretch or skew the photo, make it blurry or any other way to make the photo harder to recognize from the original. You simply look at the mystery photo and submit your guess as to what the object in the photo is. Some photos will be easy to guess the correct answer, others will be more difficult, but all contests will be fun to participate in.

CONTEST WINNER:

These Mystery Photo contests are mostly for fun, but we will give away a small prize to one person for each contest. After the contest deadline, our staff will review all the guesses made by our members. We will then select one (1) random winner from among the correct entries we received. That lucky winner will receive a $10 credit into their ArtWanted.com Bank Account, which can be used to purchase any products/services from our site at no cost. All the other members that guessed correctly, but were not selected as the random winner, get the prize of knowing they are smarter than everyone else! After the winner has been chosen, we will announce the winner on the boards. We also plan to post an additional photo of the original object for everyone to view, if we have one available.

CONTEST RULES:

What would a contest be without a few rules? Here are a few that we think make sense for these contests: 1) Only one guess per person per contest (If you submit multiple guesses, all your entries will be thrown out.) 2) If you think you know what it is, DON'T tell anyone. Just submit your contest entry quietly on the boards and keep the glory to yourself when you are correct. That is all the rules we can think of right now, hopefully that is all we have to have.

DESCRIPTION: This contest is to have our photography members submit their photos of waterfalls. Waterfalls come in all shapes an sizes and we will even allow streams with flowing water for this contest. Let's see your best shot!

RULES: The submission must be a photograph that you have taken yourself. Entry must fit the theme of the contest. No artwork for this contest, only photographs. No digital altering or filters of the photos allowed, except for small lighting adjustments that are applied to the entire image. Do not include your name or links in your entry description. Only one entry per person, so make them count!

THEME: Advanced Coloring: 'Girl Fight' by Jesse Hansen

DESCRIPTION: As most of your know, comic book art is usually 'inked' first with pen/ink and then colored traditionally or digitally. The theme of this contest, is to download the following inked image and colorize it using your own choice of colors and style. Adding a background to the image is optional. Traditional artists are welcome to this contest as well. Simply print out the B&W image, paint/color it, scan it back into your computer, then submit the scanned image for the contest. Bring the line art to life with your choice of colors and shading techniques!

CREDITS: The original characters for 'Girl Fight' were inked by Jesse Hansen - Thanks Jesse for allowing our artists to use and color this great piece of artwork. Please give credit to the artist if you will be displaying your colored piece anywhere outside of this contest.

TUTORIALS: If you would like some help getting started coloring this image, SteelDopphin.com has created a great step-by-step tutorial on colorizing black & white images. Check it out!

RULES: You will be judged solely on the coloring quality of the B&W image. Please upload a JPG image in the original file size, so all entries are consistant. Only one entry per member, so make them count. Good luck!
