Oh, if it weren't for cell phone photography... There would probably be no photography at all.
Time's been tight. Trying to flesh out stuff with the camera this summer. But, in the meantime...

What I need? Crumbling bricks and rusting metal. Passion and despair. Lust and loneliness. Pride and hunger. Homeless destitution and rich excessiveness. Skin and fashion. Pain and strength. Wide open skies and cramped dark alleys. The pornography of the religious, and the religion of a pornographer. Dirty water and choking air. Solitude in the bedroom and sex on the corner. Dirt and grime and pristine and angelic. The best of us all and the worst of you. The things you show everyone and the things you will not admit to yourself. Life and death. The dripping sadness from your lips and the radiant twinkle in your eye. To document the undocumentable. To reference the transcendent and transcend the reference. I need to photograph.

Class is going very well. (Check on the new gallery "Abstractions") It's a joy to go and actually talk art with people again!

Looking forward to being able to take what I've learned and hit the streets again.

Oh, and they've started tearing down Parman's Lube. Turns out, my shot of it was one the last taken of it.

Anyone else think a shot based on Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up In Blue" would potentially be awesome?

I've decided to take a class on composition. I figure, more training is always good, even just to get a refresher.

I'm also hopeing that the spending of money will force me to set some time aside, and not let my free time get so easily swept away.

Slowly but surely, the new stuff's getting done and going up.

But the question that I'm wresteling with now is this:

Why can't I take any shots that are personal? I feel that the biggest difference between the new work and the old work, is that the old have far more emotion in them. That they are more personal and much more from the heart.

Perhaps that's the way it is now. In my post-crash, recovery world, I need to keep a distance between myself and the image. Perhaps its the lack of a model. Perhaps it's the lack of anything to say.

Regardless, I hope it changes soon. I feel like I have more to say, and I need to get it out before I explode.

Thanks,

B

Busy week ahead, folks.

Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to get out and shoot something this upcoming week. But, regardless of all that, it's NEXT Wednessday 8/17 that's going to be a big day shooting for me.

A couple of interesting things are falling into place, so just bear with me a little longer. Please?

Thanks for reading, and be nice to people today.
