this final friday, november 30th, i will be doing a joint show with an amazing poet, mrs. nicole rahe. we (actually she, mostly) are experimenting with the concept of ekphrasis. if you are in the cincinnati area, please stop by the pendleton art center in over-the-rhine (studio 200-a) and check it out. cheers!

life will go on....this year has been both my worst yet my most creative. things are beginning to take shape on canvases, and it's coming much easier than in the past....and the most amazing part is that i absolutely can't wait to get in front of the easel. not a day passes where i don't think about painting. there's not enough time in the day, unfortunately, to keep the job that pays the bills, and spend enough time in the classroom of my studio. c'est la vie. no use in complaining. i will make the best of it and keep plowing forward. it's my only choice. if anyone reads this nonsense, stop by a final friday and chat with me....i've got enough clouds in my life for a dozen, so any friendly chat would be a ray of sunshine. cheers.

people change...places change. where i currently hang my hat used to be a farm. a subdivision built on acerage that was apparently some prime hunting ground. i found deer bones in the woods when we first moved in... what was once a new family's house is now two distant souls' final battlefield. a place to stake claims and bid the final adieu to 20 years. it's amazing how distant people can become, even when living under the same roof. so many memories i've recorded while living within these walls. i've seen the birth of two of my children. i've lost my father and my grandmother. i built a lovely fish pond with water lillies that have survived 8 or 9 winters at this point..not to mention the frogs that are always there in mid spring. i built a vegetable garden. i planted a magnolia tree on the front corner of the house that became three times the size that i anticipated... what will i miss? everything, of course. i'll miss planting peppers, herbs, tomatoes, onions, etc., in my little garden. i'll miss my water lillies and the frogs that sit on their pads. i'll miss seeing the kiddies jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the swingset i assembled, riding their bikes down the street i used to live on.... i'll miss the fire bush's unbelievable spring oranges. the ridiculously big magnolia tree's purple blossoms. sidewalk chalk on the driveway. the hammock. etc., etc. i'll miss life here. but life will go on. it always does. i'll keep making pictures and taking pictures and contemplating, for better or worse. say a prayer for me, my friends.....
