Recently my Volkswagen Tiguan had to unexpectedly have a total new engine and although it is a long story, VW Corporation and the VW dealership in Chattanooga, TN stepped up to the plate and covered the entire cost. I was so thankful to Ben, the service mgr., that I painted this for the Service Dept to remind them how I appreciated all his help in getting this done. Thank you Ben! VW really is Das Auto!
Hope everyone is well! I have been working non-stop on artwork for the CAL Small works show, Art Center's Art Of Still Life, commission work, and as of today - new paintings for christmas/winter outdoor Garden Art. Yesterday I did order gift certificates to offer at the studio this year (I have only been open for a year and am just now getting gift certificates to sell! HAHA!) I also entered two juried shows for 2013: one in North Carolina and one in South Carolina. These particular shows are hard to get in and since I will be new at trying the larger shows, there is a chance I could be refused entry. We'll see. I am also getting ready for Athens, TN Downtown Business Assoc's "Twilight Shopping" on 11/16/12 and Athen's Co-Op's "Hometown Christmas Homecoming" on 11/24/12! Whew! Better take my vitamins!! and get busy painting! :)

It has been almost 8 months since I opened the studio in downtown Athens, TN and I have been having a ball!! I have been working on an average of 2-3 commissions per month along with the new "Garden Gallery" outdoor art line which is selling at the local Co-op in Athens and at the Barn Nursery in Chattanooga. Been working on some new mixed media artwork that has been refreshing and fun! Last week my painting of the Veterans Memorial Park statue was chosen to be the cover of the new greenpages phone book in Ooltawah (and Hamilton Place, TN)! Talk about excited!! I attempted to produce several folkart pieces for a art dealer in Knoxville, TN but have not been able to complete the task yet - but I am still trying! HAHA! I give art lessons and get to meet the public - it has really been enjoyable. I have artwork to produce for a still life show at the Athens Art Center in October, the miniature show in November, fall Garden Gallery art for Fall, several more commissions before Christmas, and get the shop ready for the Pumpkintown Celebration in October. . . . . there is more but it all sounds too overwhelming so I better go now and start painting! I have also been putting at least one ACEO original art collectors card on ebay weekly to sell. If you are interested, go to "ebay", "ACEO original", "for sell by artist" and you can view wonderful artwork for sale. It is great fun and I hope you will try it. Most start at only 99 cents!

In December I opened my first studio called "Robin Champagne - Fine Art Studio" in Athens, TN. It has become a true haven for me. Other artists and friends drop by and inspire my creativity and I find the north facing windows are greatly influencing the "Light" in my art. Things have become so hectic that I had to hire a Marketing Coach to help me get more focused on specific projects instead of going 10 different directions! I just completed my first professional art class and the teacher, Courtenay James, has agreed to start giving me private lessons. I really need his advice and experience to further my learning and improve my skills. He says I need to "have HUE, VALUE, CHROMA tatooed somewhere on my body so I will stop forgetting it"! Haha! So true and I am working on it Courtney! I am also working on a group of paintings for interior designers involving birds. These paintings are 30 x 30 and use a limited neutral palette. I just completed approx 8 paintings to be used as garden art but have not fully explored the marketing possibilities for them yet. Our house is still for sale and our plans are to move to Oklahoma eventually to live closer to my parents. I continue to work at the local hospital as a nurse 1 to 2 days a week which is leaving me more time to pursue my artwork. What a busy last 6 months! I continue to sell my art in Athens at Fuller Frame & Gallery, Dayton at Art Crafters, and Chattanooga at Reflections Gallery and at the Eastgate Gallery. I promise to blog more often and keep everyone informed on my journey. I appreciate you all so very much!

It has been a few months since my last blog. We are in the process of selling our home and are moving to a rental house until we actually retire and move to Oklahoma - mabe 2+ years. I now am selling my artwork originals in Chattanooga, TN at Reflections Gallery and prints/originals at Fuller's Frame and Gallery in Athens, TN, and at ArtCrafters in Dayton, TN. I have started a series called "Blue Barnyard" which is selling very well and have several commission works to start soon. One of the commissions is for a new local Italian resturant for two large murals. I have not completed the second street artist portraits yet but as soon as I get settled, I hope to have many new works to show you. Here is a photo of a recent show in Chattanooga, TN a few weeks ago. I painted a blue pig for the Blue Barnyard series and sold it (still wet) at the show to a wonderful couple who named it "Pigment". It sure was cute!

It is the new year and with it come many "promises" to myself. I have quit my job at the Doctor's office and am now only working 2 days a week at the hospital so that I can start concentrating on my artwork. I purchased quickbooks to help with my accounting but can not seem to customize it for my art business! HAHA! I have started on the second painting for the musician series and could finish it if I was not trying to figure out quickbooks! HAHA! I just completed my climbing rose painting. I painted my first plein air painting while at the beach in North Carolina on Christmas. (Well, note to self. . . make sure the easel legs are tightened firmly or they will slip v-e-r-y slowly and your horizon line will be crooked! Yep, don't let that happen again.) So much going on and so much to look forward to! I will keep you updated.

We just returned from Oklahoma where we had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family. My Mother's side of the family is on the Cherokee Indian role and live in Sallisaw and Vian areas near Telliquah, Oklahoma. It is good to be home and I am now working to complete a floral painting of roses with a small blue butterfly. I grow climbing roses called "Jacobs coat of many colors" and the color variations are absolutely beautiful! I cant wait to share this painting with you. Mabe this week. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Friends, so far we are on schedule and I would like to share with you one of the newest paintings in a series I am planning. I took many photos of street performers while visiting Ashville, NC and they have inspired me so deeply that I have decided to paint approx 3-4 more. After they are all complete, I am planning to take them back to North Carolina and exhibit them in one of the local galleries there in Ashville. I would love to be able to find the individual performers and possibly get them to sign the backs of the paintings! Most are college students and I don't know if they are still in that area but I am going to try. What do you think about "For the Love of Music"? Are we on the right tract?
