Somewhere in the darkness of the night, He sits by his window, The memories of a long forgotten dream, Are making their presence known, He listens close, To the sounds of the night, Each lonely footstep of time, Telling him the stories of his life, He remembers a beautiful place, Filled with the dreams of children, A far off paradise, lost in the confusion of their fears, Have they forgotten, the calling of their baby hearts, Have they forgotten how to dream of life, The heaven within their deepest joy, Guiding the children to a beautiful place, They once would call to me to come and dance, The stars humming an eternal song of peace, A place where we could dream of forever, Why don't they come to my window, Why can't we play amongst the stars, Laughing under the harvest moon, Running through the fields of forever, The children of dreams, Have they forgotten how to dream of life, Have they forgotten how to believe... He understood being misunderstood, His baby heart had been broken before, Even children had forgotten fairy tales, Even dreamers had forgotten where they left their dreams, But peering through the doorway to this world, He couldnt help but wonder, What would it be like to dance in their corn fields, And to ride on the back of a tamed bird, To feed cracker jacks to a flying squirrel, And taste the dew in the morning sun, He still cries when he dreams of children, Playing in cities of concrete and steel, He still watches through his window, Waiting for them to believe. He is real, The wind tells him its secrets, The stars twinkle the riddle of a long forgotten code, Soon the memories of ancient earth, Will awaken once again, To the precious smile, Of a new born fairy child, Born to the men of earth.
