Monarch Prairie by a.f. reinhart

With quilting in our ancestrial tree, it hasn't surprised me that I have been brought to a point where 'Barn Quilts' are getting a bit of my attention. This is my first large work ~ 8'x8' located on St Rd 167 north of Dunkirk, Indiana. The work is installed on the north side of the barn, soon to follow will be an additional quilt on the south side. Installation likely for February 2013.

This was a gourd piece in the works since last November. It was 'done' as a single adult penquin ...then it was 'done' when I added the extended wings ...then my obsession with the piece could not be complete until I added the baby! Recently entered in a couple competitions - one for exhibition in the U.S. another as a photo entry piece in an international Creative Works annual. Hoping for good news!

Commissioned through my www.afreinhartART.etsy.com shop ~ your visit is Welcome! This was for an ART request that I bid on. I am excited about this avenue to promote my work, seems like a nice way to get better established. We'll see. This gourd box has a hinged lid and is painted inside with black, green and gold acrylic and the eyes are painted with the gold also. The detailing of the snake is done in pyrography.

There are three similar shaped gourds available ~ and they are just beggin' to be Easter baskets!!! These spring bunnies can decorate your table this holiday season!! This is a finished basket... the back is cut out for the basket opening and the ears notched at the top to detail the shape. Decorative Gourd Cardinal ~ created from a large egg gourd and some smaller gourd pieces, painted in acrylics and has wire feet to clutch a branch or to lay flat for the piece to simply stand. Now residing in Illinois.
