OK! Does anybody have an endless supply of brushes, paints, canvases, kilns, pots, easels, tuition money, sponsors, pawn shops, other types of connections to give them FREE ART SUPPLIES?????? I didn't think so....so why do people think they can have OUR FOR FREE. Musicians, Actors, Dancers, Painters, Sculptors, Photographers seem to fall prey to vipers constantly wanting something for nothing. It's time we let them know "WE COUNT", they don't give us the materials we use to make their lives more lively or liveable...We don't steal the stuff we use, they charge us for everything we utilize, frames, mats, film/cameras, glass, you name it they charge for it. So start charging them BACK, BACK, BACK, BACK, BACK!!! I'm not suggesting we rob them, I want us to be accountable for knowing how much we are WORTH. What we really are contributing to society. Are we being transparent, open and above board in our every day dealings with the people we come into contact with. Do we know how much our work is worth, so we can exact a fair amount from the would be client/collector/buyer, tire kicker. It we don't know how much it's worth, then how can we ever be expected to receive a fair value for our labors. Galleries want 50% FOR WHAT? Family members want it for FREE,that's another story.Musicians play a GIG and the club owner expects them to pass the HAT. Actor's need to beg borrow and steal people off the street to get somebody to see them perform or share a sandwich. Dancer's toes are ruined by the time their 19years old, the world says, "Sorry Charlie". Go to a party and say your an ARTIST, and you almost need to call 911 to pump some air back into the room, to equalize the esteem pressure back to normal. But, if your work is on their walls "they fawn all over themselves, with expressions of grandeur, about your status", until the Champagne wears off the next day.

Fifty years ago Artists from the New York School Abstract Expressionist Style, were Crazy or at least some thought so. Fifty years later we now use Abstract Expressionist Painting to get to our Inner Selves, to show our FEELINGS, to let it all HANG OUT! So do your thing, JUST DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK THE RIGHT PRICE.

Start with a canvas to large to put in your car, a large window washer's squeege, a few kitchen spatulaes or other types of long flat surfaced utensils with handles, that can be easily controled. Titanium White and Red, Blue, Yellow with a very black Black for basic start up. Where ever you can lay it out: floor, bench, lawn, mounted on wall or other location(s) will serve to launch your intentions. Look at it, stare at it, be frightened of it, live with it, and await the instant when either from the inside of you or the inside of the painting starts! Whatever you remember from art school about colour, line, design, composition etc. get rid of it....spill your guts, look at it from all sides, don't worry about being neat, pretty, clean, careful, just drip it, throw it, splash it, what your inside tell you to do to it. Stand back look at it from all sides. Let it happen, and don't care about what somebody else THINKS, 'cause it's not about them, it's about YOU. You probably won't know where it came from, and if you do it's not their business. It's your expression. NOW what they feel is their IMPRESSION of your expression. Van Gogh died broke and now his stuff sells for millions, his brother Theo couldn't give his stuff away, it was too dark...Price your work to the Moon if you want to!
