When I first started painting, I was wandering around outside and spotted the Snowdrops just peeking through the snow. Instead of painting them white, which was their original color, I decided to highlight their shadows and make them richer and more dramatic.

When I first started painting, I was searching the seed catalogs for some inspiration for my paintings and saw a new type of Swiss Chard. It was brightly colored and caught my eye. So I took the color ideas, sketched out the leaves and had a fun time applying the colors. I get a lot of comments that they don't look real...but I know better.

On a walk with my family through Glen Helen, a nature reserve here in Ohio, I came across these crocus peeking out from the snow. Of course I had my trusty camera and captured these so I could take them home and paint them. I finished the painting just in time for Spring. This painting is matted to a finished size of 22" x 28".
