Many years after she was already the moon goddess, Chang'e looked down upon Earth and saw that a terribly cruel emperor sat on the throne. To help the people, she allowed herself to be reborn into the mortal world. The other members of her mortal family were either killed or enslaved by the emperor, but Chang'e managed to escape to the countryside.
Meanwhile, the emperor was aging and obsessed with discovering the elixir of life. He had people all over the land brought to him and demanded of them how to find the elixir of life; nobody knew, of course, but the emperor would not accept ignorance for an answer and executed all those who could not answer.
In the countryside, Chang'e met the bodhisattva of compassion, Guan Yin, who proceeded to give Chang'e a small elixir. Chang'e brought the elixir to the emperor. The suspicious emperor worried that it was poison and demanded that Chang'e taste the elixir first. She did, showing no ill effects, so then the emperor took the elixir and promptly died. Then, Chang'e also left the mortal world; the effects of the elixir had only been delayed for her. However, instead of dying, she ascended to the moon to retake her place as a goddess.

Chanson Pour Les Petite Enfants by Mayme Crouse

Here are the lyrics of the song.
Now young Mr. Moon flew away in the night
With his best friend Magnus right by his side
They soared through the Milky Way counting the stars
Once around Venus, twice around Mars

Then they spied an island rise out of the sea
They fell back to Earth just as free as you please
The children all gathered the church bells did ring
Suddenly everyone started to sing

[Chorus:]
Chanson pour les petits enfants
Chanson pour toute le monde
Chanson pour les petits enfants
Chanson pour toute le monde

Queen of the island she welcomed them in
Asked them questions of where they have been
She offered them chocolate she offered them tea
They all took their seats in the top of a tree

And raccoons brought wine and the mice they brought cheese
Beautiful birds floated by on the breeze
From out of the oceans the dolphins began
Humming a tune that soon covered the land

[Chorus]

So young Princess Lia brought coral and pearls
Gifts to the travelers from some other world
The Bush doctor mixed up a magical spell
Swore them to secrecy, never to tell

So young Mr. Moon flew away in the night
With his best friend Magnus right by his side
The sun was rising, they'd be home by noon
Humming the words to this magical tune

[Chorus]

Song for the children
Song for the world

06/19/07
Hi,
Up date on the Illustrators Intensive Workshop that I attended this past Friday.......my expectations for the workshop was high and it didn't quite live up to it. The information I have already shared with alot of my illustrator friends is more in depth than what they went over in the workshop. However joining the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and getting the list of publishers and researching the publishing companies that may be interested in your type of work or you in the type of the books that they publish and following their guidelines for contacting them, SCBWI has done the work for you in researching all the publishers and agents is a must.......David Diaz shared how he got started was by sending out self-promotion pieces every 2 to 3 mos, such as a postcard featuring artwork or any other creative way to get noticed by the art directors or editors....
you can also market yourself to agents and you do this the same way as you would doing it to art directors and editors...........agents normally are paid a 20% commission and they do all the marketing for you however when you sign with an agent you are married to them so make sure you have an awesome working relationship with them and everything is spelled out in contract......and I would advice no up-front money be paid to an agent.

I asked him how much money to expect from a trademark or mainstream publisher?
He said a first time non-published illustrator could expect anywhere between $2,500.00 to $7,500.00
1/2 as an advance and the other 1/2 at completion of illustrations
you retain your copyright
and then royalties that can start at 6% of gross sales
and have a structured schedule.......
such as 6% in gross sales for the first $25,000
8% for $25,001 to $75,000 and so on.
Usually time frame for a book to get to the shelf for sale is around 2 years......usually giving the illustrator a one year time frame for illustrations...........
everything is negotiated in a contract and if you have problems reading the contract contact a attorney that can help you with it.
David said he does about 3 books a year but then again he is well known illustrator.........

I hope this has been helpful.....
Hugs,
Mayme
