Third in my continuing series of the Baristas at the local Starbucks where I draw. Stvia is a young woman who hopes to be a Registered Nurse one day, and is studying to be a Medical Assistant at the moment and also interning in an OB/GYN office I call her the Concerned One because she always asks how everybodys doing, and she was the first one I met when I started drawing there last May then on crutches hobbled by a stress fracture from overrunning. Derived from a photo of a silent film star in costume. Though a young woman I gave her more a little girl look in her facial features.
Trish The "Come Hither" One by Steven Torrisi

Second in my series of the
girls of Starbucks where I
draw, Trish is a young shift
supervisor studying to be a
court transcriptionist but she
has this vintage fashion model
look about her, especially in
the eyes with the long lashes.
Natural beauty but a rebel in
her own right she wears this
frillycollar white dress shirt
on shift. In this I see echoes
of the 1970s in her, and I
think she would have been a
cover girl in that period had
she lived through it as an
adult. Having a hairstylist
for a sister she frequently
comes in with a subtle new
look; blonde highlights the
newest addition. Rather than
yada, yada, yada, when behind
the counter her signature line
is yeah,yeah, yeah in rapid
sequence signifying
understanding particularly and
frequently in dispensing and
taking advice and ancedotes
where concerns dating and
love. If you already

Valentines Day portrait based on a 1920s photo with the exception I improvised the concentric circles signifying just a plain household mat, or perhaps the feeling of love when kissed. In this case the woman making the advance. Note if you're on Redbubble.com and already commented no further comments are necessary.

Christa The Determined One by Steven Torrisi

9x12 graphite/white charcoal. Another portrait of one the hard-working girls who employed at the local Starbucks where I draw. Petite in stature but a giant in determination and discipline she has just left to go to school to become a Veternarian Technician but has dreams of one day being an animal foster parent. Raising baby exotic endangered wild animals even the creepy crawly kind until they grow large enough to be released into the wild. Setting her sights on Australia to live and work in or any continent for that fact if she had her choice. I hope she makes it.

Christa is actually the first of 12-16 portraits. Im giving one employee a month a free portrait. I decided to this since they surprised me by making me customer of the month for December 2007. I also do this because I grew up in what used to be a middle-class turned upscale well-to-do town which I have since returned to. Finding that all the employees are not from the town but commute from urban setting or other middle-class setting I know they deserve it a lot more.

Nine 9×12 panels box framed. Total size: 27 inches by 36 inches, Graphite/White Charcoal.

FYI: Teeth do actually match up but not having the frames I had to mount these drawings temporarily on posterboard and my hand was a little shaky in evenly spacing the framers corner for the shot.

Model: Michelle, a college student and barista at the local Starbucks where I draw.
