Burrum Heads is a Sleepy Village on the Coast of West Australia across from Fraser Island. The River meets the sea at The Heads. The river is edged with Mangrove forests where seabirds make their home. A few idyllic yachts moor at Burrum Heads in isolated peace. It is a very secluded and peaceful cove of beauiful waters

My Favorite Whale Tail I was thrilled to get this photo. We had been watching a single whale. Then there were three playing together. We were going back when suddenly 6 pods of whales started performing all around the boat. It was very exciting. In my excitement, I put the Canon Video on, and took videos, but none of them worked. I did also take some photos...with both cameras, and di get some great whale tail shots as the huge whale banged its tail over and over again as if in anger. I was also lucky to capture a very short video of the tail slap, as I thought I was on Still, when I was actually on Video on the Pentax. That is on Flikr and Youtube. I cannot describe the excitement one feels when there are whales doing amazing things all around, and you have 2 caearas, but where do you point them..the action is everywhere you look. I will never forget this experience. Here is one of the whale tails that excited and delighted me so much. It was all happening all around and suddenly the boat seemed very tiny, and we were in the centre of so much excitement. The whales were as excited to see us, as we were to see them.

My New Hobby...photographing Cobwebs. Every morning when I walk, I have been fascinated by the array of cobwebs diligently spun and seeking business. They were there this morning as it was misty at 7am. When it is sunny, the webs are all packed up and put away. Its amazing how digently these spiders work for their dinner. This morning there were some very beautiful webs on display. I have started sharing the webs on Flickr. Here is one of the webs I love so much

Hervey Bay is famous for its whales. The whales migrate north to the Barrier Reef to get pregnant. Then they migrate back south. The following year they return with their calves. In August, the 'teenagers' are joyfully swimming back to the Antartic. The whales usually stop for a few days at Hervey Bay to play and enjoy a break. This photo is one of the young whales in August.
