I'm currently obsessed with plants - I'm filling the house with them and, it seems, painting them.
Can't get enough plants...

i pitied those animals, and reasoned that if I didn't choose them, perhaps nobody would, and nobody would ever love them. where as me, on the other hand - me, well, it didn't matter so much to me if they were ugly and stupid, i vowed to love them just the same anyways.
god i was a sap of a kid. i find it rather amusing now.
but this is me - convinced it's my mission in life to save fugly budgies and goldfish, because truth be told, i rather identified with them.

"So good to see you once again
I thought that you were hiding from me.
And you thought that I had run away.
Chasing a trail of smoke and reason.

Ganga by amy edwards

influenced by all the classical hindustani music i listen to while i sit in an opium haze while mehndi artist's paint me with henna and feed my dahl...
ok, that's all a lie. except for the music bit.
anyways, this is ganga, holiest of the three great river goddesses- goddess of the great river ganges (yes, the holiest of rivers- also the river they crap into and send their dead down. DON'T DRINK FROM IT!)

anyways, Ganga emerged from one of Vishnu's toes ( i don't know which one, or exactly how) and lived in the sky, until the earth was filled with the ashes of the dead and the gods agreed to emerge from the sky to go to earth.
the ganges was so great, though, in threatened to engulf all of earth, so it lived in Shiva's hair for several years, before splitting into seven rivers.

anyways, yes, this is Ganga. her life is a confusing mess. she's a modern woman.

painted on an 8 x 6 inch canvas sheet

inspired by my goldfish. they just swim around with this somewhat confused air all the time, like they really don't understand why they're where they are.
i can identify with that. heh.
so, i painted this. a goldfish in a world where he doesn't belong.

this is painted in acyrlics on the smallest canvases i've ever worked on- less than 8 x 6 inches. which is why there isn't a really big picture to look at here on da.
