TOP ACTIVE MEMBER

I think this should be gotten rid of.. I see many who daily put or respond to art work on AW. Then on Top Active Member there is some that are never seen on AW and upload tons of work and top the list or near the top . This is crazy. I thought this was for the active members who actually use the site daily or more often. We see them and come to know them.. Just would be easier and much nicer to just get rid of Top Active Member as some are not Top Active Members. Thank you.

What has amazed me also, that some people put it 10-20 photos a day! This should not be allowed, just cut it out! And lately some pe0ple have 100's of pictures over night! I know for a fact that AW will only show up to 3 photos that day of entry, so that answers your one question Joanie. But how does one person not ever be seen at AW and suddenly, they are in the top 3 overnight? What is going on? It is crazy! Are they playing with the numbers by programming something in to the count? It almost seems like it. I do agree that "Top Active Members should be removed" it is not important. It becomes demeaning for many. We would rather have more contests or fun things during the week for the people that are really interested in making this a community site for artist and photographers. Plus, I would not allow my young grand children to look at this site any more, with all the nudes, blood, etc. pictures I don't want a 9-year-old or younger to see. Maybe you want to list this site 21 and over. Please change these things! I also have to mention that I moved up on the ranks suddenly not over night, but as everyone knows that I worked hard to do that. I have been here for years and just started to become active this year again.

Sorry to contradict... The feature Top Active Member was introduced when the activity of AW members was at its freezing point and it really helped (together with other steps) to wake up this community. I do not know why. May be someone just likes to collect such imaginative ranks. Why not? Is it bad or wrong for someone else? I see that it actually helps and do not feel this feature as offensive in any way. Some particles of interest can be lost for somebody if we remove that feature. What for should we do that? What do we hope to obtain instead?

I SO AGREE WITH YOU, JOANIE. I DISCOVERED MONTHS AGO THAT THE REAL ACTIVE MEMBERS ARE NOT REFLECTED IN THIS COUNT, AS YOU KNOW. AND ASKED TO BE REMOVED FROM "TOP ACTIVE MEMBERS" POSSIBILITY. IT TOOK THEM A COUPLE MONTHS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE ME N/A FOR "TOP ACTIVE MEMBERS". NOW I SEE N/A FOR "TOP ACTIVE MEMBERS" ON MY WEEKLY REPORT EVERY SUNDAY. THAT MAKES THE BEST SENSE TO ME FOR ME.

I've been here for years, and as far as the top active list goes...I could care less. Didn't think this was a popularity contest site. I do agree that some people go overboard when they post 3 to 5 pages of their work, and wish AW would put a limit on the amount one can post in a day. In response to nudes, this is suppose to be an art site, but when AW decided they needed the money, they brought in schools kids which I believe was the main reason for the major downfall of this site. Just my opinion on all of this...so it goes

ONCE AGAIN I SEE UNKNOWNS THAT HAVE DOWNLOADED TONS OF ART AND THEREFORE HAVE GONE TO THE TOP OF THE TOP MEMBER LIST.. ONE I NEVER HEARD OF... OR SAW ANY ART FROM THEM. DOWNLOADING ALL YOUR ART SHOULD NOT BE COUNTED IN THE TOP MEMBER LIST. I SEE SO MANY WHO SHOW THERE ART MOST EVERY DAY... AND SOME NEW ONES.. THESE ARE YOUR TOP MEMBERS... THINKING THE TOP MEMBER SHOULD BE ELIMINATED.. IT'S BECOME A SEE ME SITE AND NOT A TRUE TOP MEMBER SITE...

Thanks everyone for your comments on the Top Active Members report. Here are a few thoughts we wanted to share as well...

We created the "Activity Point" system as well as the "Top Active Members" report to reward our active members with additional exposure and to get more members involved in the site. Did it work? Oh yes! Since we launched this system we have seen a huge increase in the participation in our website from our members. We realize that this may not be something that all members care about, so for those that don't care about it, they can simply ignore the report and the Activity Points. For those that do like the Activity Points, then we welcome your additional participation on the website.

Based on the feedback of this thread and other comments we have seen, we have made a slight change to this point system. We will now only give points to the first 5 images that you upload per month (max 100 points). Any other images you upload will still show in your portfolio, but will not be counted as additional Activity Points in this system. This should make things more fair and not bump people up to the top of the report when they upload dozens of images to their portfolio. We have not changed the data for any previous months, but we have updated the December 2017 chart to reflect this new point system, so we hope that most of you are happy with this change.

We want to thank all of our members that participate on the website and especially thank those that are really involved by posting comments, message board posts and other activities that help grow the community.

Lately I keep seeing on some of the displayed images,,,,,,,, Basically Something like They are Sorry they are Unable to Thank us Individually as they are To Busy,,,,,Not Busy enough to Put a few Images on AW,,,,but I say if I'm not to busy to take the time to view your Display, take the time to Comment in length, Then there is Something wrong here as this is all On a personal view ,that's not right,,, Same as I seen a couple images Displayed In military wear, with guns etc AW is about Artistry why Are we getting into Political Photos,I for one very much disagree With this,,I enjoy AW With all the Wonderful Artistry,I like Commenting on the Images ,& enjoy the Personal Interaction, If I'm not Busy to View your Art, surely You shouldn't be To busy to Respond That's my View point
