Thom, we are sorry to hear that you are not happy with the format of the new site. Almost all of the feedback we have received has been in favor of the new format over the old.

What specifically do you not like about it? If you are referring to your portfolio, as a Premium Member you have a bunch of different options for the layout/design and we invite you to look into those options. If there are other areas of the site that really bug you, please be specific, so we can see what can be done to improve them. Thanks.

It took me a couple of tries, but now that I've learned to navigate it, I think it's better. Especially the galleries

We are glad to hear that you are getting used to the new design. Please keep any feedback coming our way.

Yury Yanin 31 May 2016

WOW, WOW!!!! Thom, wait a little please!!! I have very similar dissapointment about the recent changes, and still I beg you not to follow your first emotional decision! right now! I also see no advantages in the new design, nor I see any reason to change the old AW design (which I liked) for the new web site, which is not so clear and user friendly and loads on my computer much slower. However, ...something else has changed too... You know that AW had been totally neglected by the staff for many years. Only recently someone (probably some new member of AW staff) made efforts to change the situation... May be in a wrong direction... And still ... if that someone (I'd love to know his or her name) is not just playing with web design for fun, but wishes more general positive changes, ... and as we want the same too, may be we could cooperate, to improve the firs awkward steps, to help in changing the whole sitution.. Is there any hope still left?. Now I want to write for that someone in the AW staff.I want to tell the AW staff that such members as THOM ROSLAN are precious for any art site. It is specially clear in the current situation on AW. Thom is one of the very few still active AW members, he has always expressed his wish to make this site better, people still pay some attention to this discussion board due for his afforts and clever posts. If we scare such members out of AW, and play with web design without clear goals, without suggestions and support of AW members and art community, we shell never have a chance to make this site any better.

Yury -

Thanks for your comments and we hope that in the near future you will be able to understand the benefits over the old site and come to enjoy the new format.

As for Thom and all other members that are considering leaving after the changes, we ask you to be patient and let the new site grow on you. There are many good things to enjoy about the new format.

We understand that most people have a hard time with any change, and this was a radical change from the old site. If you have things you really dislike about the new site, just let us know the details in an e-mail, so we can review them and see what can be changed.

Our goal is to make the website better for our members and website visitors (not worse). From most of the feedback we have received, we have gone in the right direction. Over the last few years we have had many artists leave ArtWanted and tell us specifically the main reason was the outdated look of the website. This was a big driving factor in the decision to make the changes we did. We value your opinions and your participation on the site, so please continue to let us know what can be improved.

We do hope that everyone has noticed that our staff is much more involved now, than we have been in a while. We are making some big changes with ArtWanted.com. It wasn't a new employee, but it is a dedicated effort by our entire staff to make ArtWanted.com a better place. Not just the website, but in everything the company does. As you may have noticed, we launched a whole new print program in March, and we have been very dedicated to responding to every single support ticket within a short time frame. These are just a few of the changes and there will be many more positive changes that will be happening this year.

We thank everyone that has been with ArtWanted.com for such a long time and your valuable feedback!

The above really sounds great, weather I like the recent changes or not! Some other people could understand my previous words as an offence or, at least, as dissapointment and luck of gratitude after their sincere efforts. Your enthusiastic reaction makes me wish to cooperate, hoping for good. I am going to send you a big e-mail later. ...I write slowly in English... by the way, I recall there was a spell checker in the old AW site... very useful feature... or am I wrong?

ArtWanted.com Staff 02 Jun 2016

Sounds good, we look forward to reading your e-mail. As for the spell checker, we did not have one on the old site either. However, each browser has a plugin you can install to give you spell checking when typing in a form on the Internet. Just Google "spell checker browser plugin" and you will see links to install those free plugins.

I'm just glad to see anyone is still there at AW. No one was responding to anything in the forums. I thought the site was dead.

Karen Bowden 03 Jun 2016

And by "no one" I meant AW staff.

ArtWanted.com Staff 04 Jun 2016

Thanks for the comment Karen. The ArtWanted.com Staff is going to be much more involved in customer communication than it ever has been going forward. It's much more than a new website, it's a whole new positive direction for the company.

I like the new format. I find it easier to navigate and the appearance is more professional. I appreciate the fact that I can opt out of social media sites and I like the additional copyright security features. I have been on ArtWanted for a very long time and I am staying. I just recently listed some of my items for sale (through direct contact) so shall see if anything comes out of it. I might even upgrade. :)

As I had promised here, I've sent a letter to the staff, where I explained why I didn't like the new format I also offered some minor changes, which seemed to me positive and easy to make. No reaction as far - neither answer nor changes, NOTHING. Seems they have their own plans and need no other suggestions.

I see that some people here like the recent changes, some not. However, what shell I do if I can not show my art as I want in the new format? In the old format I kept my artworks in my portfolio in some certain order - portraits in one row, fractals in another etc. In the new format they put all my images into one heap, where they contradict to each other, spoiling the impression of each one. I didn't like that and had to delete almost all my artworks. I left only several images of the same kind - female portraits... And obtained one more funny side result - now in my portfolio under my name instead of my ugly face they show a female portrait! ... May be it is more pleasant to think that Yury Yanin is some beautiful woman, women are surely better then me, but I AM A MAN, what for should I lie?

Certainly all that is my opinion only. And many posts above are also opinions kinda like or dislike. However, there should be a more reliable criteria of a wed site effectiveness. I had some visits to my female portraits every week in the old format, sometimes more then 20 visits to one item in a month. Now I am receiving ZERO reports every week. I do not hope for many sales here at AW, but if no one even sees my art here, what for should I even think about this site?

May be I am wrong, I still hope so. Now I have little time for art, but I try to drop into AW from time to time. To day I am going to upload one more female portrait to my portfolio... We'll see... I still hope...

Yury Yanin 07 Aug 2016

...failed to use the new uploader, computer rejected and closed that page, hardly uploaded with the old one....

Yuri - Thanks for your feedback and your desire for ArtWanted to improve. Our staff has posted several responses to your feedback in your support ticket which explains why we made the changes we did and some options you have with your portfolio to update the layout.

Please keep the feedback and suggestions coming, we have made many changes to the website after it was launched due to member feedback. Thanks.

I must declare that I received their letter and liked that very much. I still do not agree with many of their points and dislike many new features, but their activity really gives some hope.

The following is a part of my answer for their letter, which I've just started to write:

Dear AW team, thank you for your answer and explanations.

First I must beg your pardon for my usual impatience - in one of AW discussions I already wrote that I had no reaction from you for my letter. Being acustomed to the former AW staff inactivity, I didn't expect your answer. Now I have to declare in the same discussion that I received a very good, detailed answer. I still can not fully agree with you for every point, but it doesn't matter. It is normal when someone dislikes what you like and vice versa. Apart of my likes and dislikes, which seem important for me, there is a more reiiable criteria for.AW effectiveness. I mean commercial and financial results. I understand only too well that from this point of view your likes and dislikes are much more important then mine You spend your time and risk your money, hoping for AW success and thus you can and should do whatever you like. It is you, not me who is responsible for the results of your own efforts, weather you like it or not. As for me AW is not my business and I am not even a professional artist, so I can only wish you a good luck, which I do.

PORTFOLIO I should admit that I have become very irresponcible and lazy lately. I am so lazy that I have not downloaded a spelling checher to my computer yet as you advised. Being so lazy, I suspected that you left some tools alowing to reorganize portfolios, but did nothing to find out and learn those tools. Once I had put my portfolio as I liked in the old AW version and didn't want to make it once more. I left my new portfolio as you initially made that for me and only wrote in that discussion that I did not like that... Sorry again, I was wrong in that too... After your letter and explanations I made some changes at last. i put my avatar to its proper place and applied 4 images in a row order. And still I can not command order of images in my portfolio as I could in the old AW version. Every new image always goes to position 0 only, and you can not change its position until you upload one more image. After that the previous image goes to position 1 (not any other). Thus I can not change the order of images. You wrote that I was the only one, who wanted to command order of images in portfolio. May be so, but I am accustomed to have similar options practically on all web sites, where I show my art. Many sites also offer to create separate galleries forimages of different subjects, mediums, etc. As I understood from your letter, you decided to leave something like that to premium members only, and you offer me a premium membership. I appreciate your offer but NO. I like to show my art all over the world, I sell some art in the real world and sometimes (very seldom) on line. And still sales are not a compulsory part of my imcome, I mostly appreciate them as signs of popularity of my art. That's why I prefer to show my art free of charge and many art sites allow me to do so. Thus I will not change my decision now to use my AW portfolio for images of one kind only, as far they will be female portraits of all kinds. ... Farther I am going to explain some other of my opinions and make some more suggestions for AW improvement...
