It is a good portrait.

Are you happy with how it is? There is so much variation in art and styles that it is up to the individual to determine a piece being good or not. I like your use of color. The facial features to me appear incomplete. No use of shadowing, the face appears flat and lacking expression. I am my biggest critique. I am unhappy with most of what I produce, thinking I could have/should have done that a little different. I put pieces on this board hoping for worth while advise from other artists. Mostly all you get are positive affirmation. I am self taught, and I guess that will not change. Look at as many sites as you can, take away what helps you, and forget about the rest.

The colours are great. Always watch for lines and shapes the face becomes an arrow shape pointing left and the hair lines and necklines pull you up and off to that side. its still likeable and the colours show a harmonious mood. Maybe next time a pillow or arm of a couch to keep the viewer on the page because it seems side heavy on the left.

My book is "The Art Advantage" sold through amazon.com

I like it, the colors and the mood she shows. Keep working, looking at other works and learn more about how to achieve balance. When I was young I copied Rembrandt and DaVince and by doing so I learned to see depth, balance, colors. Keep working, you have a good sense of self expression.

i see allot of practice in balance to bilateral, i know keeping the left and right close to similar, and to not look but from the mine when training the hand. If you are ready you can move on to rendering or if lines are your style practice of strokes.
