Expecting a tough critique

This was a complicated subject, influenced by a song performed by the legendary prog group Gentle Giant, and a series of novels written in the 16th century by the Frenchman Francois Rabelais. It seems to be lacking something...please tell me what. Thanks.

Hi Alan, looks good. I don't think it's lacking anything, you don't want to add more it would be too busy. I would knock the image in the sky's background back a little with that sepia tone . You would still achieve what you want, but the circle wouldn't be so distracting. The whitest white is in the figure in the sky, so you could also take the figure on the grounds value down a little without destroying the effect that you want. Cool !!! I love it.

"I would knock the image in the sky's background back a little with that sepia tone ." Please explain that to me a little better as it's too early, I'm too hungover, and I really don't understand what you mean. And thank you very much for commenting!

Hi Alan, What I mean is that the clouds and sky appear to have a sepia color to them. The circle above, that contains the figure, appears to be very white. If you applied a really thin glaze of that sepia color of the sky and glazed over the brightness of the background of that figure,(the waterfall, the grass and the trees) it would push the background back just a little, visually , causing the central figure to come forward visually. Does that make sense ? Just a thought.

I agree the circle image is two bright. And distracting, I think you could go two ways with this…. Scale down the bright or go with it and cast more light from the circle image on to the other subjects along with more shadows. Ether one will even out the look.

Ok, got it now. I'll add a little umber to the background of the circle, hopefully that will make "dear Badabec" stand out more. Thank you for your advice, much appreciated.
