lets see if I get any reaction from "A NAKED GIRL"

I wonder really.... how many people actually visit this site..... for that matter I wonder how many people visit the Art Wanted site to view art. I’ve always been under the impression that just the “artist” that have pages here look at stuff.

Anyway,... I now have four “topics’” i.e. paintings here on review. To date, I have one comment/critique. Is that because no one finds it interesting; no one thinks it’s good enough to comment on; no one wants to say anything that might be controversial...?

I do seek real dialogue regarding my work.... positive and negative.

She was a ballets dancer that I met in Denver Colorado. We spent time together way up in the mountains near Loveland Pass. It was a time....

Frank: I tend to agree with you. Yet it does give us a forum to at least attempt to show our work. I think your painting is very, very nice. Great scene and the lady is fine too! I bet the time in the mountains was quite memorable. keep on painting. In all seriousness, your work is quite impressive. I'm into detail and realism and you seem to share this tendency. Nice job.

Thank you will.... I have been wondering if there was anyone out there. A couple of my friends want me to loosen up... but it seems that I just enjoy the tight rendering of my subjects... but I don't produce a photo rendering. If people take the time to really look I use implyed detail... and it is actually fairly loose... it works like a digital photo... when you step back from it .... the painting comes together.

It looks as if she has been painted on top of an existing piece. I don't get the depth of field required for her to look like she is actually part of the background. Maybe it's the shading on her form.

Hello Gwenlyn...

I painted her to be the central point in the painting... and not a part of the background...

Do you think I should darken the area behind her around the trees and in the grass and rock bed...?

Odly enough... this is one of my fav paintings... I don't see the problem stated by the last observer. It looks complete to me.

She seems to be missing a shadow, even on a cloudy day, unless it was in the opposite direction. The contrast of the dark trees makes the top of her stand out.

I haven't been coming here as much because people stopped commenting/critiquing. I don't think people understand the idea of critique as not a personal thing.

Love your work. AW doesn't allow us to post whatever they deem to be pornographic stuff but this isn't apparently - or else they're not monitoring anymore. I've been on here at least 12 years. Keep swinging that brush!

Hello again Gail....

First..thank you for thaking the time to look and especially for taking the time to write a comment.

The girl was standing on that big ol' rock... and it was really an overcast day... however... I painted it as a much brighter day... maybe I should re-examine the painting and determine the sun location and add just a little suggested shadow.

I have removed the tan line that is/was on her upper leg.

Gail... I've posted some more nudes on my page, and nothing has happened... They aren't porn... but they are nudes

Frank Mayes 13 Jan 2014

I've added a hint of a shadow... and a few other little touches... a lot of people didn't like the bathing suit bottoms tan line so I did away with it. Have a look and see what you think now

I like the work. Maybe unusual to be naked in cold? Maybe just a cold girl with so many reasons to put herself in these conditions.

Mike... we were camping way up in the Mountains from Denver... it was in the middle of the summer... and there were no people for miles and miles....
