wow, Mike, that's a great piece. i love cardinals but the woodland is terrific. a bit confusing having so much snow/ice & flowers at the same time. i like how the waterfall looks frozen. another good forum for this is https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/438212686216875/ a group of artists that do wildlife pictures (birds & wildlife art group).

I like it alot, although personally I think it would look better without the bird and tree stump in the foreground, either way I like it, just seems like 2 different paintings with the forground pasted on top of the background...excellent technique to both however

This is great! Super detail. What I would add would be a few veins on the close leaves to bring them forward more. That's it. Just opinion :). Probably some of the best on the site.

Thank you all for yor advice. I may change thing on it a bit maybe take out the stump and do something

For me the whole picture are works, but only I would remove the pinkish trees or bushes from the background as they draw all the attention from the bird and making all picture messy, and I would make a background darker or lighter to emphasize the bird on the foreground.

Incredible!

The background is wonderful, the near tree stump and bird just enhance it in my view. The bird is focal to the painting, with the background helping to pull the viewer in... Great work

You are by far one of my favorite artist on here! Your ability for detail is incredible!

A beautiful background.(but agree with the other poster about the pink-distracting) I think the stream wasn't needed, it also distracts from your focal point (the bird and stump).

Good job on the bird, tree trunks, blurred forest, and colours of the snow.

IMO, the composition would have been better if the bird and the stump he's sitting on weren't so centered. A few noticable tangents going on also.

Overall, I find this a very pleasing scene. Ann
