Markos, I know i said that many times...but i will one day comit to use lightroom..

Do u use HDR technic with Lightroom.. Do I see some work of HDR on some of your images or is it my imagination...If u did that is best HDR i have ever seen...usualy they are so exegerated that i feel like puke...But if u did u did such a great work...

One of these mons i will comit to work with Lightroom...

I have only one image that I did with multiple image... the others are just light at my back types of situations... I went through a stretch where I was obsessed with perfect histograms. Then I realized every scene can't be a perfect histogram, that is why alot of my images look as they do.

I have a tendency to shoot for the sky over the foregrounds.. I use ND grads alot, but over exposure (especially of the sky) is hard to fix... when I was shooting mostly jpeg, I had such an easy time bringing out detail, even more so with RAW/DNG.

Lightroom does not do HDR in house, its not a total replacement for Photoshop. It has similar tools to Adobe Raw for bringing out details, its not for everyone. I think its superior for organizing images over Adobe Bridge (which I can't stand, I never used Bridge), I wanted a picture manager with editing power and Lightroom fit the bill.

If I can ever find that image I did in HDR I will post it, I don't do alot of it cause it doesn't suit me. I like to do what Greg is doing alot of on Facebook which is stitching images, mostly panorams for me. Although I like to have absolute black in my images, I am not a fan of midtone details, I am sure if you pull my images into photoshop you will see they span the whole horizon from lights to mids to darks. They are not perfect but I work them so they represent what I see with my mind's eyes, I only see composition with my eyes, the artist in my head takes care of the rest.

I like Lightroom only cause I can do 85%-90% of my work within it... If I need to do panos or HDR, I have to go to Photoshop or another stitching program to do the rest. I thought that article may help make peoples minds up on whether or not they need it, its a powerful tool as is photoshop.

well I am trying out the lightroom 3 beta. I just downloaded it yesterday as I needed it for a image.. it is interesting but I feel strange with it, different feel than photoshop..

Nice. I felt odd with it as well. I can't tell you how many times I uninstalled the trial only to reinstall it down the line. I liked it but then I didn't. Then I decided to organize my images, something I never did before, I started tagging and titling all images that were important. Lightroom came in handy and I have liked it since then. Like I stated above, I couldn't stand bridge, at least the version I was using, would be way to slow and crash to often, probably cause my computers were severely under powered then.

If its not for you then its not, but you will like the non destructive editing, its a lot to learn but I think it would be nice in your workflow. You might use photoshop less, but if you don't then it might not be for you.

I will have to play around with it to see if I will use it more thatn photoshop.. it is kind of fun, but I really am just fumbling around with it for the moment, but I was playing with the camera raw and that was fun and got a taste of the non destructive feature which was nice as well..

have not tried any of the image tabbing yet..

that's cool, I like how it edits images, the painting of the areas you want to darken/lighten and saturate/desaturate as well as sharpen and other things is nicer than in Photoshop. I think is a great compliment to Photoshop.

Once you learn the keystrokes, you will use those to switch between Library and Develop mode, the two most used modes for me. I hardly use the Slideshow mode, that's until I saw what you can do with this version (3.0) create movie files with audio. That feature is only nice cause it can be done without going to an external program, unless you want to convert it to something else.

I hope your backing up your images, its a beta and can be prone to errors, I have only been importing single images to play with 3.0... I have used many betas in my life and theirs always issues, especially with lockups and lost work.
