Yes, you can link to ArtWanted.com from any page, including eBay.

I believe ebay strictly forbids linking to outside sites.

thanks very much, AW!

Oops!

i think i may not have expressed myself clearly. what i meant is:

on artwork i have here in my AW portfolio, may i place a link to an ebay auction where i am selling it (if i am selling it on ebay)?

Nina Kuriloff 04 Jun 2009

linda,

what ebay forbids is linking to other sites on ebay auctions and ebay store items.

:)

Exactly, which is what I thought you were saying. But you should be able to link from here to your ebay store, or item that you are selling.

Nina, unfortunatly artwanted doesn't have a set up where you can link to other websites or pages easily other then the one in the whole portfolio page, but I saw a former member was doing it and I asked him how. This if the format I use that he gave me: then you can add what words you want here and end that way. I copy my links and use the edit-paste on internet explorer 6 and insert them between the " " .You have to use all the punctuation exactly. the words you add between the <>will be a hot link highlighted in green and you can add more outside but it will not be part of the link and will be in normal type. You can see how I did it on my listings. Jim

Nina, artwanted cut out the html I was trying to send you so the message above may not make much sense. If you would like to see it I will have to send it in an email.

In the image description of the artwork on ArtWanted.com, you can add the URL or link to the ebay auction.

You can also add the link/URL in the description of the for sale item.

Both places are acceptable.

thanks very much, AW! :)

I've often used a link to one of my images in my portfolio on ebay - done it for years. you have to use the html code for image source: img src and the url of the image which you get by right clicking the large image and selecting properties then copy it and past it in with the img src html coding.

eBay removed my items in the auction format that had the ArtWanted widget. I don't think they check the store items but the rules do not permit it so they could yank your items anytime. I am most interested in the link to eBay item that you describe. Thanks

Oh minnie I didn't mean I used the widget on an auction but you can add it to your ebay ME page. I have links to other sites on my ME page.

I use the large picture I have in my AW portfolio inside my description of the artwork I am selling and for a long time I used a template that included an image of the Creative Minds book AW did in 2004 cause I'm in it.

to do an image reference you need to enclose the code img src=" " within the right and left arrows which are on the comma and period keys inside the parentheses of the above you would put the URL address of the image. to find that you go to the image in your AW portfolio and right click on it and got to properties then select the address and right click again and copy it then paste it between the parentheses after img src="URL pasted here" and enclose all this with the right and left arrow.

this is pasted from one of my images

img src="http://images.artwanted.com/large/38/14283_869338.jpg" all that's missing are the right and left arrow

you would go to your ebay auction description and select HTML then put the code and the URL image address where you want it to be within the text of your description. then switch back to the standard view and you can resize the image to be as big or small as you want by dragging the corners.

Marty Yokawonis 11 Aug 2009

here's a couple screen shots of the way to do it

this is the standard view showing the image i imported from my AW portfolio using the html above

Marty Yokawonis 11 Aug 2009

this second shot is the coded part under the HTML tab on the description part of the ebay editing page of your auction

Marty Yokawonis 11 Aug 2009

okay I zeroed in on the html text so you can see how img src is coded

Marty Yokawonis 11 Aug 2009

well this is really frustrating you would need a magnifying glass to see the enlarged picture here. oh well

if you go to my auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250481835166&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

and right click on the thing you can scroll down to properties and on that page scroll down to the part that says start description and you will find the place where I did the img src code for the AW image I inserted.
