Does anyone have experience with the Fineartamerica artist site?

Just wondering if anyone belongs to the FineArtAmerica artists site and what your experience has been there. They actually do post art that has sold and the format in which it was sold, which I wish AW had available.

WESTERN ARTWORK By Denny Karchner 18 Sep 2008

Hi Frances. I am listed on FineArtAmerica. I do not spend much time there though. I do get some traffic and comments there.

BTW, I just love your work. Very interesting style.

Humbly yours,

Almost the entire AW is on fine art america, maybe a little over a small percentage. I have a space there too, but like Denny mentioned, I don't spend much time there either. I just come, drop off some artwork, browse other artists, and leave. :o)

Hello. I just saw your post about Fine Art America and I wanted to post a reply. I belong to that site and it's a nice site. Like most others it's not my main site where I post much work. I do get an email from them every week about who looks at my work and like that. I have never made a sale from that site though. I look at it like this...it's another place to post and to get your work looked at. AW is my main gallery though. Have a great day. Mike Filippello

It looks like a decent site. I just joined because of this post.

I've been on FAA for at least 2 years (http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/carson-collins.html) and I'll give it a 'mixed' review.

Never sold anything there, and get very few referrals from them, but on the other hand, the site is well-designed and easy to navigate.

The forum, while sometimes dominated by b****iness and a**-kissing (aren't they all?) sometimes includes discussions that are entertaining, thought-provoking, and informative.

I've 'met' a few really good artists there, who have become friends on other sites as well.

FAA is definitely worth a look, and it's free, so what have you got to lose?

i'm there too...but haven't taken the time to really delve into it....

I joined up recently but only have my originals available for prints there, not the originals themselves. dianne-connolly.fineartamerica.com

Hi, i'm on there too, but I just use it as another portfolio rather than trying to sell anything. Renee

Yeah Fine Art America - it's peaceful there - no one bothers you - It's a Place to Send Potentials - they come, they look, they go - They advertise themselves quite a lot but It's rather like being home alone - It's Peaceful, but there's not much excitement - Ha! ~:0)

I have a page on FAA, but on ArtSpace as well.the community at artspace seems really nice, and the best thing, it's totally free to post your work.Don't do much with FAA, kinda boring over there!

Carson Collins 19 Oct 2008

Two points of fact, FYI: folks are definitely NOT always "nice to you" on FAA, and, in comparison, ArtSpace has a very limited appeal in terms of the kinds of art (e.g. Tattoos and the "adult" school of comic illustration) that one prefers. JMO

I have been there for some time and even though I get a few comments nothing has ever sold.... just like this site.

The best site seems to be www.redbubble.com where the customer has a larger selection to choose from. (cards, posters, prints, canvas., etc). I have been there for least than a month and sold about 8 cards.... and my drawings are censored or removed like they do here!

Guess I'll check them out.

Fine art America is one of the very best designed art sites on the web with one exception. Their search on there is so biased after 3 yrs of paying them to be on their site I finally left. Over that time the search results for any category never seemed to change. They always had the same artists up front and promoted them more than any of the others there. Sense I left there I have gone back and checked to see if any of the searches had changed much but no they haven't. Will never go back there until I am convened they have changed their search engine. If you are going to charge someone to be on a site, you should by all means spread the exposure around. They don't.

Intereasting...I did sell a couple of small pieces on FineartAmerica, and have certainly sold the odd thing at RB too.

faa is my main site and i spend a lot of time there. for $30 a year, you get your own website...so you can send customers there without being distracted by other art. the products are A1 quality and they guarantee, back and deliver as promised. the owner is a young man, well versed in computer technology. the forums are active, alive, provocative. changes are constantly being made to aid the artists and our suggestions are actually listened to and considered! go figgur! nobody rivals faa's google presence...you write up a press release and google has grabbed it in under 15 minutes! they offer cards, giclees on canvas, paper, framed and now acrylic prints on sheets of acrylic...very cool. read this fast before AW removes the pitch! lol

marlene burns 15 Apr 2012

david, faa has the same selection.

Marty Yokawonis 18 Apr 2012

hmmmmm giving it a shot...........

marlene burns 18 Apr 2012

whoever gives it a shot, know that you can upload 25 images and they will let yuo sell wihout having a premium fee...more than that, pay the $30, well worth it. then, start sending vustomers that way...if yuo sit on yer ass, you will have probably wasted your money.

Marty Yokawonis 24 Apr 2012

so keeping your images under 25 and periodically changing them out will keep you in a free account status?
