Or sometimes you have a good idea so you sketch it down, the sketch looks good but you have to make a good copy and then you spen forever and it looks like crap!!! That happens to me so often! Its so frustrating! ARGH!!! I feel as though im the only one that these things ever happen to is it true!!!

Am i the only one who after trying hard on something and then it looks stupid? Or you copy a picture and you put so much time and effort into it and its still looks stupid...huh!!LOL sorry its frustrating...

I hate how pencil smudges so I ink it very quickly.

You might think of using the product called Krylon Workable Faxatif. It will make the image 'stick' and prevent that smudging you hate. They sell it at Walmart, but when I recently bought it the dumbnuts took it out of the craft/art section and put the cans in with the spray paints.

i can definitely relate!!!!! my worst beef is my scanner, i do a pencil that i think looks ok, scan it, and it looks like crap..... (maybe i'll get a new scanner for my birhtday):)

That happens to me too, Chanel. When I overwork something or mess it up, I put it away for awhile and don't look at it. Then when I do look at it again with "fresh eyes", the mistakes are usually clear and i can fix some of them.

You could also engage the 'photocopier'

it is useful for making a 'Master'

just an idea!!!

Hello Chanel...

I live with kneaded erasers (worked until they are warm and gentle) to pick up any smudges as i work. Plus a sheet taped to the drawing board to cover my WIP so that its protected when i take a break or finish for the day. Lots of gentle blowing for eccess graphite dust and on larger projects a long thin brush that sweeps away some of the dust.

Actually i think i blow more than anything... : )

Hope to see some work in your portfolio soon!

I love smudges. they have become a big part of my drawing.

I have the krylon but i never use it. I do what sher says with a clean sheet of paper to rest between the sketch and my drawing hand. I replace it constantly. Against all convention, I work from left to right filling great detail into the rough sketch (being right handed). I've smudged drawings even still, after days of painstakingly minute detail. Yes, I felt like screaming but didn't only because I didn't want my neighbours calling 911. LOL

don't worry too much about messing up your pics. i use to be the same way. i'd draw for hours only to ruin them with a coffee spill or something. just keep in mind that if you could do it once you can do it again. sometimes they come out better after a re-draw. and nothing lasts forever, i'v found that the act of drawing far excedes the feeling of the finished piece. maybee that "oops" youve done on the piece actually works with the piece. if all fails get some sleep.
