The worm is done

The Shakespearean insult, purple hued mustachioed worm that Mike Sanke mentioned in a previous post is in oil on canvas and finished. I added a few ideas from several who critiqued, and am now wondering if I pictured the critiques and ideas presented me by them. I listed this tonight on eBay to see if it will or will not be accepted by those who know my usual style. Here he is

Very Nice...a bit dark but it works Vivian..

Vivian Allen 05 Jan 2005

Thank you, Juan. The darkness is part of his character and surroundings. I considered painting, then dismissed the thought of, another idea from Mike. A polished turd. This is so unlike me. Nah, I won't. Oh, I just don't know. I'll change my mind in a minute...again. Turd has 2 definitions in the dictionary. one is; a piece of excrement, and the other is a comtemptible person. I could have Lil covering a shiny piece of poo in her litterbox, or create what I perceive to be a contemptible face on the canvas.

cool...gotta love the worm!!!! I like his little eyes too. But something tells me I wouldn't want this critter in the garden.

Cool stuff, girl! Very Dali-esque.

If you're looking for more inspiration, there is actually a book out there filled with all of Shakespeare's insults, categorized by topic or subject. It's AWESOME!!

neat idea, though the gray is a bit much intruding the purple. well drawn.

Vivian Allen 05 Jan 2005

Terence (fellow worm artist) I think you're right about not wanting him in the garden. He's bad. Dawn, I've been in the sticks too long. I'd never heard of Shakespearean Insults until Mike said it. I'll look up that book and see what it's all about. S, I think you're right about the gray, however it does have a touch of purple in it that may not be showing in the image posted. It's supposed to be another worms egg that he is entering and exiting. The angles signify his sharp use of words. That is what I perceived a Shakespearean Insult to be defined as. That book will inform me. Thanks to all.

I'm glad you like it, Cramer. And it's thanks to you, Mike, for planting the worm seed...and you've since planted another seed...
