Getting more views

I have some great photos and would like more views and comments than I have got so far. I cannot imagine how some members manage to get over 3,000 views and up to 50 or more when I get a couple and the most 12 on one single photo. Can members advise or help me as to how I can get more viewings.. I reply to most of those that rate me, I rate others work, I copy names of photos that have done exceptionally well, I am a fully paid member, I advertise Artwanted on my websites, and I post some great photos...still no improvement and I am feeling neglected. How can I too get 3,964 views on one of my photos too?????????????????How can I get and keep a Top Ten Report on my page for more than a very short burst???????????? I too like being looked at and rated and recognised...or is this only for a select few?????????

I dunno I think for the views you are seeing a period of time there..as for the recognition I would suggest as AW suggests..upload an image per day for a while...or maybe two.....

viewing and commenting on other's work is another way to reach more people who will in turn return the favor

Thanks for the comments...I have been a member for 3 months moving into month 4..so thats a fair time.

I didn't know there was a way of seeing how many views an image receives.. hmm Interesting... Well, definately don't post more than one image per day and be select... Look at the photo-if it makes you stirr within-then post... There are more photographers on the site than some other categories so the images that are unique will receive more comments.

You can spend hours commenting and still never get to all the images posted in one day... And then there are the boards, taking time to get to know the other artists and partake in the contests and projects and it becomes understandible that we can't possibly comment on everyone's work.

I know that I wish I could-but know that I can't...

The only people that can comment on art is other members, so the number of comments is dependant on the number of members that have the time to play on the site.

The longer you are a member the more people will make you an artist to remember and you will start to have a following... Post too many images and there will be those that do not receive comments...

Try not to feel discouraged-this site is made up of artists and there is no favortism going on here...

I personally welcome you to the boards and will make some time to view your site...

I'm going to comment on the ones that catch my eye the most... This may help you to see what type of photos grab people...

I will make honest comments....

I have taken some time to view your work and am wondering what camera you are using?

You are well-traveled and had many oportunites for taking some incredible shots... you're lucky :o)

The right camera can make or break the perfect photo... If you are using a camera that does not allow you to manually focus, you will not capture the shots how YOU want to... rather how the camera wants to take it...

If you have a camera that does allow manual focus, having one that allows you to change lenses for better focus opportunity is ideal. I have a Canon Rebel that I love...

Also it is important to have a camera with an optical zoom...

Also take the picture as large as you can with your camera... then be careful to size the image for the computer so that ir doesn't lose clarity/ Your pictures may look better on your computer than once you get them ready for the Internet...

Learning Photo Shop is crucial to presenting your work as you want it to be seen...

You have the eye of an artist...

You do some really good work

But let me ask you something.

What does a Picture of your cat [25 years old in human terms] have to do with Art?

ONCE i've seen that i'm not going to check out the rest of the work.

I'M PROUD OF MY great GRANDSON BUT i only show his PIC in the forums.

His PIC is not Art so I do not put it in the Comment Section.

Clare Rowley 05 Jan 2005

Sometimes a photo of a cat can be art.... It is all in how you look at the object... what you see when you are snapping that photo... Like this one....

You have some wonderful photos up there Maggi. I left you comments on my favorites.

Mike Sankey 05 Jan 2005

I have to agree with Earl, snapshots are great fun, but consider before posting them.

RQ Trietsch 05 Jan 2005

Bottom line Maggi...Schmooze....become one of "The In Crowd".

Hit the message boards constantly, and at every given opportunity. And of course drop a shot here and there. But, guaranteed once you have become accepted, your viewing will climb immensely.

If you have to, become psychotic and post useless BS that always seems to work.

Now for the big question....is your work really that noteworthy or is it just a vanity thing?

No offense meant, I haven't looked at your work, but on a serious note...make yourself known and socialize...especially here in AW.

And as AW suggests...give out your AW addy, not to mention make some business cards with the addy and hand them out to anyone you think might look at your work. You'd be surprised how it could change your veiwing stats.

Clare Rowley 05 Jan 2005

Alright... will someone tell me how to see the stats on an image... I mean I know how to see the comments but how do I see how many views?

Clare Rowley 05 Jan 2005

Never mind... Duh.. I figured it out... very interesting.... It amazes me.. the one I don't like the most everyone else likes... Guess it is better to have someone else tell you what is good :o)

Hapuna Beach BTW is the one everyone likes... ??? Beats me~

Thanks Leigh... I wonder how Maggi is and if she is going to come back to comment again... ???

Maggi Carstairs 08 Jan 2005

Thanks Clare..I really appreciated your comments. I agree with the 'snapshot' of the cat..I sort of thought he was unique because of his age...then I saw Clare's photo and realised what you were saying. I will delete that cat and use another Loved some of the comments....I will be more than delighted to hang around and socialize....I love reading the comments and like getting good ones.(Grin!!!)
