Renewing!!

AW::

I do not want to renew.

In your e-mail to me you say you will delete all but 5 Images.

In the Thread below this one you say you will count up the months and leave that many Images.

Which is the Truth?

This is typical as everything is usually messed up.That is why I am not renewing.

Thank you for your help.

I hope I get an answer!

I hope you change your mind Earl.

I hope you stay as well.

I have nothing but good things to say about AW.

FROM THE THREAD BELOW BY AW:::For example...Let's say you join our website and signup to be a premium member and upload 50 images. However, after three months you cancel your membership. You will be allowed 15 total images (3 months x 5) on your portfolio and all of the rest of them will be removed on the day you cancel.

Hi Earl... I would assume this applies to you.. I'm sorry the frustrations may have gotten to you on some site issues..

I take it youre staying but as a free account? I would hate to see you go as well.. I kinda deal with this site as a balance of percentages.. 5% may be obtusely negative, but i'm left with 95% really good stuff... : )

Hugs to'ya big fella ...

We used to delete all but 5 as stated in the e-mail, but we now count up the months as stated in our post this week.

I'm tired of Anime and Kids!

One more baby Picture or my little Kitty will make me puke or "Heres my little Johnny with jelly on his face!I'm talking about snapshots here not drawings,Paintings or Quality Photography!!!

There are some great Digital Artists here but when I see a premade Poser Girl with clothes that someone else made and a back ground by another person using Lighting that yet another person made, then you take a Pic of it and call it your Art,,,This is not Art this is playing Dolly Dressup!!

Combine all this with the Site messing up all the time,Projects not completed on time, and Peoples Questions and Requests ignored by Staff,I have had enough!!

Add to all this the Psychos and the Site is even less palatable.

I have met some great People here and some of the best Artists in the World.

I love you Guys.

I will stay as a free member if I am allowed.

Thanks to all for your Critiques and help!!!

Earl -

We understand your frustration with certain areas of our website. We will be the first to admit that there are many areas that are in need up upgrades and bug fixes.

We are in a little catch 22 situation. Some people don't want to renew, because they want more features completed on our website. However, it takes more renewals, to hire more people, to get these features completed. :-)

As far as the kittys, babies and the like, this is how many of us got started as artists. You have to start somewhere and ArtWanted.com is a place where beginners and professionals can co-mingle. We don't know why this would effect a renewal or not, but hey, everyone has their own reasons.

We hope that you can overlook the cons you see and just focus on the pros that ArtWanted.com can do for you.

Earl Kelley 05 Jan 2005

I don't know why people can't understand what I say.

Babys,Kittys and the Like:

I'm talking about the Photo snapshots, I guess People think this is the place to show the family Album.

I'm not talking about Drawings no matter how bad or good they may be.

stan jones 05 Jan 2005

Hi Earl i will take down my kitty pics and the one i have with a child in it if that help to make you stay

But i do agree about the Psychos i am fed up with that myself as i have had my share of them over the last few months

i had asked for a certain persons remarks and rating to be removed before christmas and i noticed i still have them after sending an e-mail to the staff with all the id and numbers i know they are very busy

but please reconsider earl and enjoy the people that enjoy looking at your work we arent all bad...well i might be but the rest of these folks are good kind people

Pete Miller 05 Jan 2005

I agree with the psycho thing we have had a run on them lately..Heck theres still one in Art discussion who has been talking to himself for a month...LOL...but photography is capturing an image with a camera...as to the subject ...i dont think thats defined...to me thats like saying ..Earl you paint portraits...you can only paint male, adult portraits... If I get what your saying...hell who knows maybe im in a fog...but to me thats the cool thing about art at any level...you dont have to like it all...I dont like most..the anime, manga, fan art..all that stuff I just skip it over because it is copying someone elses art in my book...but thats my opinion and I doubt my opinion will make someone say ...yeah your right I will create something original...

I guess I am trying to say is , you add so much to this site with your no-bull*hit approach to things and it would suck if you let the kids and the crap get under your skin like it has... What ever you decide be cool man...

Earl Kelley 05 Jan 2005

Stan, Pete:

I'm not talking about your work.

I'm talking about the people that aren't good enough to be Amateurs.

I'm talking about Pics taken with a throw away camera and the person barely knows where the on button is.

It's like going to Someones house and they pull out the family album or the trip to Dollywood.

I'm not talking about "Photography."Even a beginners work crappy as it may be is Fine.

What I'm talking about is "Oh the baby Burped,Lets get a Picture!".

I am here to see Artists at work,Beginner or Master,,,Any work be it Babys or the Moon.

I'm not here to see Aunt Mary's Picture without her Dentures.

I hope this explains it a little better.

stan jones 05 Jan 2005

love your sense of humor Earl see thats why you have to stay skip the rest and stay with the best thats how i am playing the game now

fookget the fools who play around enjoy your work and all that like to see yours your one hell of a guy to lose

Pete Miller 05 Jan 2005

in a nutshell Stan....

Cassie Chamberlain 05 Jan 2005

Pete and Earl, I think you've both very kindly commented in my portfolio before so I am guessing you are not talking about me hehehe

Seriously though, I get so tired of defending anime when it's the same stuff drawn over again (and those same things are always the most popular!? Japanese schoolgirls, gothic lolitas..). I know there are some mature people who do fanart to relax but a lot of it is just kids trying to score popular points with their friends.

It wasn't untill college that I had a kick up the backside and began to do art for myself, THINK for myself and try and extend ideas in different ways.

Anyhow, at least with anime you don't have to look at the section...too bad you can't do that with baby progress pictures and stuff. I understand what you're saying, uploading just so you can show pictures to friends and not even in the name of art...don't msn do like photobooks for those things?

Earl I like taking sneak peeks at your portfolio, I was taken by surprise to see Mike there. It would be a shame for you not to continue!

Juan Gomez 06 Jan 2005

EarL, Man what can you expect from the inter-net? Andy Warhol said it best " 15 minutes of Fame" a complex people people have in this media savy society...stay a while..I love to see your progress..you paint better than some professionals I know personally.

As i see it, the site has no real focus (no pun intended) and the ratings make it seem as if it does and with all the back patting and the photographs of empty sky and meaningless cottages in the top ten - it's basically a catch-all site for anyone who wants to post or say anything.

There are only a few sites that restrict the work submitted to quality work and there are many photography only sites.

In my opinion, the rating system and the top ten lists just stir up the pot and encourage people to swap ratings and keep each other happy - it isn't much different on any site.

As i see it, $29 is pretty cheap to have a place to upload my new work - if not for sale here, to allow friends and prospective buyers to look around.

I made a sale of a 12X18 by seninf someone here a day or so ago - it was the best and easiets way to do it - just send a link.

I think ratings and listing the best has a very negative affect on art - the constant exchanging and scoring. We all want attention. i just don't think this is the healthiest way to do it.

Leave the ratings but turn off the lists of who's best. Rating diminishes the perception of art. Please don't ask me to explain that statemrnt.
