Original Post: alternatives to canvas

Hi guys,

I reckon this mustve been asked here already, but here goes. I used to attend a recreational painting session run by an artist in Sydney, and ended up buying some of his works that appealed to me. Despite me asking several times,he wasn't forthcoming about what material he painted on.It wasnt canvas, sounded and felt very plasticy. Hope someone can help me identify what the material is? Im uploading a pic of the painting. Ta
