Huckleberry Red

A few weeks ago on our hike to Summit Lake, the huckleberry bushes were loaded with small, blue huckleberries...a delicious treat when hiking at this elevation. In this shot taken in 2003 the berries were gone and the foliage turned a brilliant red. The trail passes thru this small clearing before arriving at our favorite rock, on the ridge above the lake, to have lunch. The second photo is the view we enjoyed while eating our lunch... :-)
